Day labor battle brewing: Minutemen, Casa of Maryland set stage for showdown in Takoma Park
Gazette.net ^ | February 22, 2006 | Sean Sands

An organization trying to stop illegal immigration started work in the downcounty last week, photographing contractors who pick up day laborers in Wheaton and making plans to expand to Silver Spring and Takoma Park.

And while Stephen Schreiman, president of the Maryland chapter of the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps, said his group would work covertly for the time being, Casa of Maryland, a workers’ rights group that runs day laborer centers in Silver Spring, Wheaton and Takoma Park, said it would take the opposite approach...

...

‘‘We are going to target them in a specific way,” said Executive Director Gustavo Torres. Casa representatives will go out with cameras and video cameras to record the Minutemen, but that will only be the first step, he said.

‘‘Then we are going to picket their houses, and the schools of their kids, and go to their work,” Torres said.

....

‘‘In this area, the commercial sector hasn’t been harmed in the sense of people being deprived from work because of the day laborers being here,” he (Erwin Mack, Takoma-Langley Crossroads Development Authority) said. ‘‘Consequently, while there are issues with their right to be in the United States, that’s not what we’re concerned about. We’re concerned that they wait in an area that doesn’t hurt our commercial properties.”

....

Schreiman said his group plans to turn its findings over to local and state law enforcement, though he said he was not aware of Takoma Park’s status as a Sanctuary City. Takoma Park law prohibits any employee, including its police officers, from assisting or cooperating with federal investigations or arrests related to immigration issues.

‘‘That’s blatantly a criminal act as far as I’m concerned,” Schreiman said. ‘‘That means they’re aiding and abetting the transport and hiring of illegals, if they refuse to cooperate.”

There is certainly becoming a two sided monster, one for American law and one against. Unfortunately, many who benefit from illegal labor are Americans.

Threatening our children is completely out of line, even for the criminal alien lobby.

Bump that, Travis.

Quisling: a synonym for traitor, someone who collaborates with the invaders of his country.

Did they pack up and return to their countries of origin when they realized it was a false alarm, or did they return to work?

Gustavo Torres, CASA of Maryland, Inc., Takoma Park, MD

Gustavo Torres, Executive Director CASA of Maryland, Inc., 310 Tulip Ave., Takoma Park, MD 20912 (This is CASA's public address, not Torres' home address)

Phone: (301) 270-0419, Fax: (301) 270-8659,

Email: yotagri@aol.com He's not only leading the invasion, he's damned ungrateful to America as well:

"He is angry at United States government intervention in Central and South American countries and at government repression within those countries. “In Colombia, I suffered political persecution as a result of my involvement with unions and the student movement. Just two months after I fled Colombia in 1987, my brother was murdered by the paramilitary forces.” Torres is also angered by what he considers the uneven playing field for immigrants. -snip- He has also forged relationships with key government figures. Partly as a consequence of this alliance building, CASA receives a steady stream of government funding. “Equally importantly, the political leadership in Maryland looks to Gustavo for advice on critical issues confronting the Latino community,” observes Pérez.

The authorities will do nothing about these threats to the Minutemens' families.

Takoma Park is also the deranged hippie sanctuary of Maryland. It declared itself a nuclear-free zone a long time ago.

"Takoma Park law prohibits any employee, including its police officers, from assisting or cooperating with federal investigations or arrests related to immigration issues."

Excuse me, but didn't some of the States refuse to comply with Federal integration orders? And didn't that result in the Federal Government sending in Federal marshalls and troops?

The next time these fools hold a rally in my area I'm going to rent a panel van from Enterprise. It's going to be dark green.

I'm going to purchase a couple of magnetic signs that say:

I.C.E. on them in big block letters.

Then I'm going to put those signs on both sides of that rented van. Me and some pals are just going to stand around in navy pants and golf shirts taking pics, talking into little Motorola radios, and writing down license plate numbers. To complete the effect, we're all going to wear dark sunglasses.

I'll bet we can bust up their little rally inside of 15 minutes. Should be a real hoot.

Where I come from, this is a declaration of war. Threatening our children is completely out of line, even for the criminal alien lobby

One of the more wonderful aspects of "multiculturism" is that other cultures don't draw the line at threatening another man's home or family.

Expect to see more of this as the invasion continues.
