Heh. I feel the same way about this Audi, as you did on the Trumpet. DIY is my ticket to high-end German motoring on the cheap.
Fortunately, some guys in the community have really broken and marked the trail really well, and there's a procedure write-up that makes the shop manual look like it was written by idiots.
Here's a nice pic of what I'll be getting into:

LOL!
Thanks for the thread, Angus. This should be a fun weekend.
Betcha we get about 1" in Toms River.
Exit 1.
Oh No. This cannot be... We are having a global warming....````(snicker :0)
Here's the business for ours, more or less -
But ours wasn't that clean . . . and like many Brits it didn't have all its teeth . . .
Double walls are definitely better body heat retention. The drawback is, they retain more moisture, that can freeze up in the interior. Meaning it snows in your tent when you accidently hit it or rub up against it.
Single walls are made for very extreme conditions, usually with high low ventilation. Except they sleep colder...tho with much less packout weight. I use both, depending how I feel about the weather.
I once took A Sierra Designs Clip Flashlight (double walled but with a lot of mesh old style 3lbs. 3 oz.) into a twelve inch snow. Got another six inches that night. Another half inch in the tent from moisture.
I was happy!!!
Ya definitely need a good bag, product knowledge, experience, and common sense. Sounds like like you and your spouse possess both.
REI, EMS, and Campmor are decidedly run by liberal thinking minds...but they do know their gear.
So do I....and continually piss them off by mentioning...."Conservation???...isn't that a derivative of Conservative thinking.!"
They all really hate when I do that....it forces them to start thinking outside the box.
FOGGGGG...which starts about May. The onshore flow from the Pacific brings cold, wet fog more days than not. We haven't had many weather fronts in the last couple of weeks (which is kind of unusual) and the same offshore flow that is causing the Santa Ana winds (and fires) in Orange County is giving us nearly perfect weather this week. It is not all that unusual for February give us these kinds of 73 degree days in the city - in between storms.
Don't visit San Francisco during the fog months (May-August) without bringing a decent jacket!
Teeth
English Teeth, English Teeth!
Shining in the sun
A part of British heritage
Aye, each and every one.
English Teeth, Happy Teeth!
Always having fun
Champing down on bits of fish
And sausages half done.
English Teeth, HEROES' Teeth!
Here them click! and clack!
Let's sing a song of praise to them -
Three Cheers for the Brown Grey and Black.

Give me as much as you can Mother Nature..Then warm up real quick and fill up my well. ;-)
You forgot the toilet paper. :)
La Paz is a fairly prosperous "blue collar" city, with down-to-earth friendly people from all over the world. US expat population is around 5000. (city is 200,000).
and land leases/homes are very cheap by US standards. Southern Baja is nothing like the rest of Mexico, and few if any from there would ever thing of "going north".
We are freezing here in Florida!
Aw,
You guys are making it worse for me.
My bird dog (English setter) is off at the breeder's, I hope getting bred. She is a beautiful tri-colored English setter and my soul mate, and I miss her so much.
This is the last time I'm going to attempt to breed her. I have several grouse hunters waiting in line begging for her pups. She really is an absolutely beautiful, aristocratic dog (really, this is not my prejudice talking) and as birdy as they come. She has an awesome pedigree.
But most of all, she's just my baby.
you suck :)
