What is different from European (and even many Asian) immigrations is that 2nd generations thought themselves Americans and became wholly integrated. Children of immigrants were usually extremely americanized!

However, that is not what is happening now. 2nd and even 3rd generations out of Mexico still hold their allegiance to Mexico first. the same usually with those from arab countries...

Oh, I've SEEN it: several years ago, my job took me to NATO Headquarters in Brussels on a regular basis. . .the US Mil bus to HQ NATO from the downtown hotels had to drive through "Brusselebad" every day, where EVERYTHING was in Turkish or Arabic. .

But we do want to integrate. We come in peace.

Mexicans in the US have not tried blowing everyone up. They are not jihadists, in spite of all the other problems stemming from their illegal immigration.

>Not all Muslims want to integrate

This simply might be
a generational thing.
The neighborhood where

I grew up was small,
and mostly Polish. Some friends
of mine had parents

who spoke Polish but
no English. By the second
generation, most

families thought nothing
of the "old world." By the third,
many young people

hated the "old world"
traditions and ways. Muslims
might be the same way.

Great article. He does a great job of pointing out the results of officially enforced multi-culturalism. I pray that our nation wakes up in regard to all of our imigration problems before it is too late.
The muslims are another problem that has only two solutions (1) get them the hell out of here. (2) Burka up your women and learn to kneel and pray 5 times a day.

I think that from a human standpoint, Muslim immigrants to the US certainly grow to appreciate the quality of life we have, and the majority of them here in the US don't hate us. And their kids grow up with all the US advantages. So there is some of that generational integration going on.

What worries me is the actual faith of Islam...the ones that are here and happy at the mall are slackers and apostates in the eyes of radical Islam. And Islam is passed on from generation to generation.

Imagine yourself as a young Muslim, and when you become interested in world events, you are fed a constant diet of Imam propaganda about the evil West and the need to conquer it. Then imagine that the leaders of your faith tell you that you are hated and going to hell if you don't join the jihad, the actual physical jihad. Couple that with the idealistic exuberance of youth and and dissatisfaction with the reality of having to make a living, and you have a real danger.

Case in point: France. Also, I read that the number one name for boy babies in Brussels, Belgium is now Mohammad. Soon to be the number one name in all of Europe.

No they aren't and that's the gist of the problem, haven't you read, it's been widely covered? Second and third generation muzzle limbs in Europe are not integrated! And your "poems" still don't rhyme. Integrate!

Some people just have a real boner for Mexicans. It consumes their every waking thought.

The Mexicans I have seen in the Houston area are some of the hardest working, family oriented I have seen. Ihave seen them only speak english to the kids even though they know spanish. As far as the music and culture hell thats part of Texas culture also. Burns me up to hear people equate Mexicans with Muslims. I also go into many muslims homes also and this poster has no clue. I have never seen an American Flag in a Muslim home but I have seen plenty of them in Mexicans homes.

What is different from European (and even many Asian) immigrations is that 2nd generations thought themselves Americans and became wholly integrated. Children of immigrants were usually extremely americanized!

What comes to mind is the old Charlie Chan movies where the "No. 1 son" was so Americanized that if you just heard the guy speak, you wouldn't know he was Chinese.

This out of an old "Humor in Uniform" from the Readers' Digest: During WWII the Army was interviewing recruits and the guy asked this one Nisei* if he thought he could fight "his own people". The kid's eyes widened in surprise. "Oh my God, are we gonna have ANOTHER Civil War?".

Man, those are the kind of immigrants we need today.

*Second generation Americans of Japanese ancestry.

"I like their music. It sure beats gangsta' rap."

I have to go along with you there. Did you ever notice that Ranchero music is almost indistiguishable from the polka in some cases? I find that really amusing.

I read somewhere that German immigrants to Texas (or to the Texas territories in the mid 19th century) heavily influenced the folk music down there.

From the article:

Millions of "French Muslims" don't consider themselves French. A government report leaked last March depicted an increasingly two-track educational system: More and more Muslim students refuse to sing, dance, participate in sports, sketch a face, or play an instrument. They won't draw a right angle (it looks like part of the Christian cross). They won't read Voltaire and Rousseau (too antireligion), Cyrano de Bergerac (too racy), Madame Bovary (too pro-women), or Chrétien de Troyes (too chrétien). One school has separate toilets for "Muslims" and "Frenchmen"; another obeyed a Muslim leader's call for separate locker rooms because "the circumcised should not have to undress alongside the impure."
