Well acid is normally Hydrochloric acid. It is a common acid used in household products and commercial products. It is commonly used by contractors to clean concrete under the name of muriatic acid.

Given the hi pH of the soil in that region, the acid probably had neutralized itself since that soil is about 90% free calcium carbonate. This is just another attempt at sensational news coverage.

I would guess the acid is the acetic acid they use to open up limestone formations. Standard pkgs are 55 gal drums. I don't know of any 250 gal pkgs. They would weight ~1.3 ton and wouldn't just fall off a truck. They probably lost 2 drums, ~100 gals.
