"The Red Cross promoting disease vectoring. How much federal money do they get?"

Post of the day. We have a winner!

Employees must participate in "diversity training" seminars, and they are subject to the "diversity vision" of the Red Cross that includes "sexual orientation" on the list of "communities we serve."

Diversity is Perversity.

As a Christian, Hartman was concerned by the e-mail and expressed his sentiments to his female supervisor, "who did not care." He then e-mailed several head administrators, who immediately called him into the Red Cross regional center in Pomona, California. Hartman was reprimanded and told that his e-mail was "not appropriate

Basically the guy fired for being an ifiot and not fitting in. As has often been pointed out on FR: Somebody pays you a salary - you're their bitch

Go placidly amid the noise and waste,
And remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.
Avoid quiet and passive persons unless you are in need of sleep.
Rotate your tires.

Speak glowingly of those greater than yourself,
And heed well their advice, even though they be turkeys.
Know what to kiss and when.

Consider that two wrongs never make a right,
But that three lefts do.

Wherever possible put people on "HOLD".
Be comforted that in the face of all aridity and disillusionment,
And despite the changing fortunes of time,
There is always a big future in computer maintenance.
Remember the Pueblo.

Strive at all times to bend, fold, spindle and mutilate.
Know yourself. If you need help, call the FBI.
Exercise caution in your daily affairs,
Especially with those persons closest to you;
That lemon on your left for instance.

Be assured that a walk through the ocean of most souls,
Would scarcely get your feet wet.
Fall not in love therefore; it will stick to your face.

Carefully surrender the things of youth: birds, clean air, tuna, Taiwan,
And let not the sands of time get in your lunch.
For a good time, call 606-4311.

Take heart amid the deepening gloom that your dog
Is finally getting enough cheese;
And reflect that whatever fortunes may be your lot,
It could only be worse in Sioux City

You are a fluke of the Universe.
You have no right to be here, and whether you can hear it or not,
The Universe is laughing behind your back.

Therefore make peace with your God whatever you conceive him to be,
Hairy Thunderer or Cosmic Muffin.

With all its hopes, dreams, promises, and urban renewal,
The world continues to deteriorate.
Give up.
I think there's something there for all of us.

Maybe, just maybe, because he had been a volunteer for this organization for 30 years before he was hired, and actually believes that the Red Cross has no business "celebrating" (ie promoting) homosexuality?

Well, to be brutal, the organization that employed him disagreed with his opinion on the matter. They have every right to fire him in such a situation.

Disagreeing openly with the powers-that-be in any organization is always a risky move. That's life.

if i need blood and there ain't any, i'll gladly pay MORE for it.

the best way to increase supply is to increase compensation.

Well, to be brutal, the organization that employed him disagreed with his opinion on the matter.

But we both know that if, say, a muslim employee objected, he would not be fired. Or if an atheist objected to an e-mail saying Christmas should be celebrated, the e-mailer would have apologized.

It's the hypocrisy of the "tolerance" enforcers that's so objectionable. Also, if the Red Cross can't tolerate Christians who object to the homosexual agenda, they are no longer worthy of public support, in my opinion.

Contributions to the Red Cross go to support the salary and benefits of a Chief Diversity Officer

Think of the total hypocrisy here. The Red Cross has a highly paid Diversity Officer and is celebrating the Gay & Lesbian lifestyle. YET, they are "PROFILING" all potential blood donors to protect themselves against the very behaviour that is cause for celebration.

I just gave blood again this past weekend, and receive calls every 30 days since I have the popular (desired) O-NEG blood-type. Every time I give blood, I am asked repeatedly whether I have been in a relationship with another man or whether I have engaged in similar behaviors that are endorsed by a homosexual lifestyle. If I respond affirmatively, my blood will not be accepted.

This is either sheer lunacy or total hypocrisy!! How can the Red Cross encourage or celebrate a lifestyle that produces an outcome that the Red Cross has to so diligently protect against in order that it does not imperil the product/service that the Red Cross provides?

How can diversity and profiling co-exist? I must really consider whether I will continue my relationship with the Red Cross. At the very least, I will be corresponding with the appropriate contact at the Red Cross.

If they were honest, they'd change it to the Red Square.

But they're not honest. They need the money, and the blood, of Christians.

"I would like to start by stating that I am a Christian not willing to compromise my beliefs to promote the agenda of the homosexual community. I would also like to say that I think it's disgraceful that while most of us [at the Red Cross] are trying to save lives, a select few are using this organization to promote their own lifestyles which in my opinion are unacceptable."

Couldn't have said it better myself. I'll think twice before donating to the Red Cross again, not that I hate homosexuals; that's here to stay; I don't like have it shoved in my face. I don't shove my heterosexual agenda (never really had one) in anybody's face.

It annoys me that deviancy is something to "celebrate". Why don't we have Mental Illness Pride Day? I sure don't celebrate mine, and regard it as a cross I must bear. In most ways I'm just as "normal" as anybody else in my interpretatin of reality, although some would call that into question by my "conservative" tendencies about most areas of life as it is lived in this point in time. And I'm more flexible about that than some.

We'll never see Chastity Pride Day for singles either, will we?

I think that is grossly unfair for employers to do things like this to their employees. It should not be allowed. Tolerance isn't something that can be conditioned into you unless you are very, young, vulnerable, and malleable. It comes from deep within upon reflection, and not from any party or employer telling me what I should think.

Before all this c*** came up, I worked with an open lesbian, and I'll admit I was uncomforable when she invited me and I accepted to some womens' event and encouraged me to frequent her favorite bookstore. But any feelings I had toward her agenda, I kept to myself, we shared recipes, I got along with her as best I could (tolerant), and didn't make snarky remarks to the other employers about her. It just came naturally to behave toward her that way, just as I would expect somebody to behave towards me in the workplace if they don't like something about me or my lifestyle. We work together for a common goal that has nothing to do with sexual agendas and should try to get along.

I would back that person in a lawsuit for discrimination unless there are circumstances behind the news item we are not being told.

Having dealt with both the Red Cross and related blood banks, I would NEVER have anything to do with this organization. It is run by Leftists and and in my opinion is NOT a non-profit charity. I would urge everyone not to contribute to this anti-american organization.

The "inappropriate" e-mail that Hartman sent contained the following statements: "I would like to start by stating that I am a Christian not willing to compromise my beliefs to promote the agenda of the homosexual community. I would also like to say that I think it's disgraceful that while most of us [at the Red Cross] are trying to save lives, a select few are using this organization to promote their own lifestyles which in my opinion are unacceptable."

His email was rather carelessly worded, I think. He gave them a cheap shot at him and can beat him over the head to threaten anyone else.

I think there are a number of ways a Christian can respond to an attempt to force them to celebrate sodomy. You could cite all the disease caused by such practices anomg men and women, both heterosexual and homosexual. You could cite that you feel it is inappropriate to promote or celebrate anyone's sex lives in a charitable health organization. You could point out the hypocrisy and strangely mixed message of an organization who is celebrating a lifestyle, the practice of which prevents a person from becoming a donor to that same organization.

There are ways to say such things without handing them a rope to hang you with. The last sentence he wrote should have instead been: "I would also like to say that I think it's disgraceful that while most of us [at the Red Cross] are trying to save lives, a select few are using this organization to promote their own lifestyles which in my opinion is unacceptable." Changing the 'are' to and 'is' changes the emphasis from 'lifestyles' to 'promoting'.

If you're going to take a stand like this, be very careful what you write. Check it many times. Have others proofread it to make sure you don't give them grounds to dismiss you.

Write very carefully and unambiguously. Then when they do fire you or attempt to reprimand you, sue their butts off.

Your link doesn't appear to work. I went to the cwfa home page, and their link to the story doesn't appear to work either (although other links on their page do work).

Interestingly, their feedback/problems links at the bottom of the page doesn't work either, so I was unable to notify them of the problem.

I would like to read the article on their page, as sourced in your post.
