You're off a bit there, in competition on a level market we've always one, but the market today is neither level nor fair. We play at Free Trade while everyone else plays at Merchantilism.

It will all even out and if you are a globalist, that's a good thing. If you are a working american, as opposed to our ivory towered elites of both parties, it sucks since you HAVE TO come down in your standards of living to achieve this "utopia".

Of the 369,000 employees added between 1962 and 2001, 84% were added under Republican administrations and 16% were added under Democratic administrations.

This makes me want to hurl.

Our government is certainly the most generous employer in today's world.

No doubt, I should have become a public servant years ago. I'd already be retired, with one of those fat govt pensions.

government employment is the best ticket to a stable middle class income in the US today. working at a large company, especially one that is offshoring, is like being fed into a sausage maker very slowly. and endless stream of layoffs, outsourcings, pension and benefit reductions, and higher bonuses for the executives.

Agree. Working in the private sector today is like being in a meat grinder.

So as the outsourcing engine continues its expansion after starting with IT, what will happen for the demand for housing and all of the other expensive playtoys the upper middle class buys.

In the next 5 years, can you say DEPRESSION !! As the good jobs continue to decline, the number of qualified buyers continues rapidly.

Hey, here's an idea: to all these elected government leaders who think it is so great for workers not have any pensions, well, why don't these elected politicos all give up their govt pensions, right now?
