President Bush has chosen federal appeals court judge John G. Roberts Jr. as his nominee to the Supreme Court, a senior administration official says...
I love the quote. Guess what's going to be front and center in the RATs attack at the Judiciary hearings? That quote. From what I hear so far, he's smart enough to deal with them.
The rove story ahs already run its course, besides, destroying the character of a potential justice is more important.
Perhaps that fat, crypto-fascist putz Ted Kennedy will have a debilitating stroke over this. We could but hope. His last few years as a drooling vegetable would be fitting karma with respect to a certain Mary Jo Kopechne.
Who is this Nancy Grace on CNN? She's building this up like a boxing match ...
Great choice. Wonder how he feels about what happend to Terri Schiavo?
Savage read from something that Roberts "believes Roe v. Wade was decided wrongly".
:-)
Nothing wrong with holding Bush's feet to the fire.
However, give credit where it is due, this is a great pick. Far more conservative than I expected.
That it should be a state issue, probably.
The Dems may have backed themselves into a corner. Another brilliant Rove plot!
The flashy-siren-thing dazzled you, huh?
"Roberts is much better."
I hope he's a true conservative, ie a paleoconservative, and is against illegal immigration and for the closing of our Southern borders to third world aliens.
I swear, I thought I was listening to John Kyl!!
Thank you for finding this. It's very good news.
They are absolutely losing it on DU - it's hilarious - reminds me of the great depression of election night! :))
Btw, it's "sniveling", not sniffling...if you're going to insult someone, it's best not to look stupid when doing so...
This white male hopes Ms. Janice Brown makes it to the SC before W leaves office.
All i can say is He he he he he he he
"Judge Roberts is a member of the Elect, having clerked for the renowned Judge Henry J. Friendly of the Second Circuit, followed by then-Associate Justice Rehnquist. His professional achievements, including over 30 Supreme Court arguments, are literally incredible; you can read about them here (and then go off and wallow in your own inferiority)."
Thank, you sir.
This is why Free Republic beats watching any news including Fox.
I agree wholeheartedly!
They are hysterically funny right now! I urge everyone who can stomach the stench to view the spectacle for themselves. Here's an example of a Roberts case that infuriates them:
Environmental Protection and Property Rights
Voted for rehearing in a case about whether a developer had to take down a fence so that the arroyo toad could move freely through its habitat. Roberts argued that the panel was wrong to rule against the developer because the regulations on behalf of the toad, promulgated under the Endangered Species Act, overstepped the federal government's power to regulate interstate commerce.
I sure hope the toad has a good lawyer.
How do things like this get leaked to the press? I have been waiting for his press conference. Clueless, nervous, stressed. ;o)
The quote is from a brief he wrote as a lawyer for the Reagan administration. The view is not necessarily his own.
< Separated at birth with Bill Pullman, Pres....Independence Day!
True. It was fun seeing the MSM try to keep it alive these past few days. Now they'll finally (and I hate to use this expression) move on.
Yes - unfortunately, that also means we're in for a $hit storm.
President Bush has redeemed himself and his party.
With Specter, Schiavo and the cave on the nuclear option for appellate judges, the Republicans were headed towards a divided party and collapse.
But where it counted, once again the President kept his flawless record regarding campaign promises.
An excellent choice.
And now it is the responsibility of the Senate to make it happens.
Any subsequent choices must also be of the same caliber.
Thank you, President Bush.
If/When he is approved, there will have to be another nomination to the DC Court of Appeals. More fireworks!
I just turned CNN on for the first time in 6 months and John King was talking about him as a conservative.
I think the talking point you'll be hearing from now on will be " his law firm represented Bush in Bush v Gore....this chronyism...etc etc."
Ted Kennedy's response to the Roberts pick: "AH'M GONNA EAT YA!!!!!!!"
Then I'm happy!
Since there's a high expectation for the next pick to be Hispanic, I'd really like to see you get your wish with Estrada getting the next nod.
That'll be the libs line of attack.
I just flipped over to CNN for a quick look. Paula Zahn looked like she had been stomach punched. She was in shock for a few minutes.
Well, I was hoping for someone else.. but he didn't ask me.
thanks for ping Chris
Let's see how obnoxious the RATS can get with this one
Let's be real: at that level, you don't just move someone up to appellate court, then to USSC in two months. It wasn't going to happen. Brown is tremendously qualified, . . . and I won't be surprised if a year from now she ends up being a nominee if there is a vacancy. But this was just too soon.
Another very good sign.
Lets hope his observance of the Constitution outweighs his like for police powers. Scalia also tends to like police power. That seems to be Robert's only downside, which is no big deal if he is a true Constitutionalist.
Bork was not pro-Reno. Bork was anti-Microsoft. And for good reason.
Because conservatives should not be soft on criminals just because said criminals make big money.
"His last few years as a drooling vegetable"
No, we could hire Felos to pull the plug!!!
Bitter Dana Milbank spewing loads of BS on MSNBC. "Clearly this was moved up 2 weeks to push the Rove story off the front pages. Confirmed by all kinds of conservative sources." "Clearly the leak of Clements was a purposeful plot to fool the media. The White House fingerprints are all over this."
Oh how I hope this smarmy slanderer gets called before the Grand Jury, lies, and goes to jail.
What's probably enraging them even more is that they know how happy we are over here!
LOL those same idiots who will sit out or not vote for the GOP candidate thus assuring a President Hillary....
Damn I hate them folks.....
Because the President told him to be pleased. hehe
You may get your wish when Renquist resigns... :}
Thank you :)
