President Bush has chosen federal appeals court judge John G. Roberts Jr. as his nominee to the Supreme Court, a senior administration official says...
Age: 50?
Isn't that a bit old? I was hoping for a strict constructionist under the age of 25.
Per DRUDGE:
Roberts: 'No support in the text, structure or history of the Constitution' for legal reasoning in Roe vs Wade...
CNN - Claiming Roberts will be a big swing vote...
Good choice, a solid double, but really a missed opportunity for a grand slam home run.
Figured that. Just pinging anyway.
Conservative enough for you? Ready to wager on passage?
Dems HEADS Exploding all over!!!
Click click BOOM!!!
From what I gather, he is very pro-Constitution.
Right here slim, glad to be wrong.
Levin approves, and he's a member of the Federalist Society.
Good combo!
That's the plan.
Good for you. Now this opens the door for him to appoint Brown or Jones or Clement for the Rehnquist fill, and we still have Stevens considering retirement and Ruth Buzzi ill. Hmmmm. Can you say most conservative court in 50 years?
I would have been ecstatic with Ms. Brown but I am a happy man tonight. Our man "Dubya" came through "big-time."
Game on!
In your face Liberal low-lifes!
Do you actually believe Roe V Wade will be repealed? Really?
He's young,,,with a Rehnquist background,,,with a Reagan background......SOUNDS GOOD TO ME!!!!!
Yes, and it was certain Bush would nominate a woman, a minority or Gonzales.
You have no credibility, nor do any that raised these unfounded accusations. The President just shot down his critics, he is due an apology.
One of the beautiful things about this pick is that when the left goes into their pouting mode about "diversity," it'll show just how superficial their standards are.
I believe that as deputy solicitor general in 1989 he argued that Roe is unconstitutional.
He better walk the walk on this one.
Ben Shapiro doesn't have his law degree yet, otherwise he would be my choice. How old is Mark Levin? He would be awesome too.
:)
Isnt Roberts one of those extremists?
I like the sound of that!!
Hahaha...50 is good enough. If he's healthy (and I'm SURE that was asked of him), he's on for 30-40 good years.
Roberts is much better.
ym opinion too, I believe he wanted Pres. Bush to be able to nominate one at a time. To un-complicate matters.
For myself, I don't give a whit for his "position" on abortion.
All I care about is where he stands on the Constitution of the United States of America and the sanctity of his Oath of Office.
Absolutely not!!!
Bush has liberal tendencies and holding his feet to the fire is the only way move the conservative movement forward. Sniffling cowards like you accomplish nothing.
Be ever vigilant!!! Prepare to raise hell again if there is talk of replacing Renquist with Gonzales!!!!!
"Although, I would have been happy with Ms. Brown"
Or her lovely Daughter,
Doh! showing my age, although the Hermans Hermits predate me a bit.
Good point! I definately want to know too!
I'm VERY happy to be WRONG. I was expecting the worst. I don't mind admiting I was wrong on this deal. WOW
woot!
Roberts: 'We continue to believe that Roe v. Wade was wrongly decided and should be overruled'...
Who cares if they're white? As long as they're conservative, I couldn't give a damn what their race or sex is.
And neither should you.
Very good points, to which I agree.
Let's be clear.
IF, the RATs say Roberts is within the "Judicial Mainstream", it means he is another Souter/O'Connor--a flaming liberal.
IF, the RATs rant and rave and say they will filibuster because Roberts is "outside the judicial mainstream", then we have a good pick.
In that case, Roberts is Borked and we end up with another Ruth Bader Ginsberg.
Regardless, it is impossible today to place a strict Constitutionalist on SCOTUS. We will someday have 9 Marxist interpreters who make new law.
Don't get your hopes up. We will end up with another kissin-cousin of Souter/Ginsberg.
Sum'bit'ch looks like he combs his hair with buttered toast, lying little weasel.
CNN's legal analyst on right now saying that Roberts will be a strong candidate.
Kind of puts the Patsies together with the MSM, who are now so far out on a limb with Rove they can't climb back.
It'd be a beautiful thing to see.
Thank you for the doom and gloom prediction (extreme sarcasm)
.............Someone like Anne Coulter.
Ted Kennedy, with the open fly and massive man breasts.
Ginsburg will hold on as long as she can......
Thanks, sounds good to me! The rats will have a cow!
So when will the FReepers who said President Bush would cave to the liberals apologize?
I guess we should give them time to cancel their plane reservations to Australia; their registrations with the Constitution Party; and of course their "I'll never vote Republican again" diatribes.
Go Dubya.

Simple and to the point. Sounds like just the kind of justice we want.
