There has been an explosion at Aldgate East underground station in London, causing the closure of the entire Tube network.
There are also reports that a second incident took place at Edgware Road station in north west London.
The Aldgate East blast was caused by "some kind of power surge", according to Tube infrastructure company Metronet, which is responsible for maintaining the Metropolitan line.
A spokesman said: "We don't know the extent of the problem yet."
A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We have just sent some resources out to the scene."
British Transport Police confirmed that there are "walking wounded" and said paramedics have responded to one report of a person classed as "life at risk".
"It's chaos, with people trying to work out what has happened," said a spokesman.
"All we know at the moment is that staff reported a loud bang at 8.49am. No one is sure what caused an explosion, but it is thought it could have been a collision, a power cut, or a power cable problem."
One witness said the packed underground train he was on was 200 metres from Kings Cross when there was a huge flash.
The train stopped and people were using umberellas to smash windows of the trains. Passengers were led out of the train by underground staff.
He added people were milling around Kings Cross covered in soot.
CNN claims one Israeli source says there was a warning about a Lonon attack.

They may have helped, however, with intel or mules, in which case-God help them.

Reality check...they're not just there. That's the point.
They picked the trifecta plus one: Olympic site, Blair to head EU, G8...the international eye. You know they have a lot of islamists in London.
You know they had 250 people parading chanting with their imam (the one with the eye patch and the hook) chanting good things about Bin Laden and jihad all over the world. They closed their mosque (first time that happened). Maybe if they would have locked them up...we could have found out something.

Just terrible. ITN via MSNBC is reporting 20 dead, and a bus blown up in Tavistock Square, following six underground subway explosions.
Of course they hate the G8 as well.
What a thing to wake up to. What gets me is how many DUmmies here and across the pond, were saying how they were sick of hearing of 9-11, etc. When was the last time any MSM outlet even mentioned 9-11 or showed the images from that tragic day? I bet the NYT and WP ended up printing more images and stories about Abu Gharib and Gitmo than the attacks themselves.
I wouldn't put it above al-Qaeda to hire non-Muslims to pull this off, given what we know from captured al-Qaeda documents in Afghanistan. The possibility of al-Qaeda hiring members of the so-called Real IRA to do this attack is perfect for what they did in London.
