Oh, don't get me riled up! I am from Montana where we celebrate Vigilantes! I think it may be time for a third wave....When the legal system fails, what are civilized citizens suppose to do?

What good does registering sex offenders do?

After they rape and murder again, they're easier to find.

Very creepy.

I question the state of mind of the judge, for listening to such details. I had to turn the TV off. Could not listen to more than one story. God bless the victims.

I am often asked why a loving God would create such a place as Hell....I will now refer them to this testimony.

Indeed!!!

However, on the scary side, this is a new low (hard to believe as though it may seem)for sex offenders. Offing the victims entire family to make off with the victim. This guy falls outside the existing FBI "profiles" for sure. A whole new kind of monster.

Fry him before he can teach others...

Shasta was spotted by a waitress early Saturday just miles from the home where her mother, older brother and mother's boyfriend were discovered bound and bludgeoned to death on May 16.

Amber Deahn, 24, said she thought she recognized the girl eating onion rings, cheese sticks and chicken strips with an older man. Shasta's picture has been posted around town and shown in the media.

"It clicked in my brain that she looks familiar," she said.

Deahn tried to keep the pair at the restaurant longer by giving the girl crayons, coloring paper and a mask from the movie "Madagascar," and offering the girl dessert.

"I was trying to figure out a way to keep them there so the officers would have time to get there," she said.

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Thank goodness for people like Amber Deahn.........She needs to be thanked for her efforts and quick thinking.

Deahn told the Coeur d'Alene Press she was not thinking of a reward -- more than $100,000 was offered by the FBI and community groups -- when she called police.

"I just did what any red-blooded American would have done," said Deahn, who earns minimum wage -- $3.35 an hour in Idaho -- plus tips. "I hope that if it was my child who was missing, somebody would have stepped forward and helped me."

This is a big story in Seattle where the nightly news interviewed Amber the waitress--not some fellow who said he alerted Amber. Interesting, come to think of it, that someone named Amber sounded the alert on this Amber Alert case.

Amber the waitress is young and pregnant. She said she asked the girl her name and the girl started to cry and said, "Shasta and I want my Daddy." Her dad had just come over to Tacoma to visit relatives when he received the news and they all drove back to Idaho immediately--about a 4 - 5 hour drive. God love them all.

When the case was first reported, the dad was interviewed on tv. I absolutely believed him. He's kind of a weird looking bearded coot but absolutely believable anyway.

When the waitress who identified Shasta was interviewed on camera today, she said that she asked the little girl her name and the girl started to cry and said, "Shasta, and I want my Daddy." So there you have it.

Execute them on their first conviction if the child was murdered. Lock 'em up for life without parole if the child was returned or found alive.

No more messing around with these twisted perverts. They CAN'T be cured.

Right. I am most concerned with the child predators. The statuatory rape pervs are dangerous, but in many cases it's the parents rightfully filing charges. I agree that there is a difference in the offenders and the child rapists are the cretins I want to punish severely on their first conviction.

Offense Background: On January 24, 1980, in the City of Tacoma, Washington, Joseph E. Duncan, age 16, committed a burglary of a neighbor's home. Duncan stole four handguns and ammunition. That same evening Duncan abducted a 14 year-old boy....

The Seattle local news was all over this part of the story tonight, showing the Tacoma area home where the perp's mother lives, the area where he committed this horrible crime, which included raping the boy repeatedly, burning him with cigarettes, putting a gun to his head and pulling the trigger...tho the gun was not loaded. He was considered very dangerous.

Tonight, Shasta Groene's dad was visiting relatives in Tacoma when he was notified that his daugher was found. (She asked for her daddy first thing when she was found, so she's not afraid of him and clearly he's not involved in the murder of his wife.)

Here's a wild guess: I wonder whether the Groene family had anything to do with turning in the perp back in Tacoma in 1980. Was this a revenge murder/abduction?

I added together those two pieces from that entry of his blog. He states he "got even" twice, and got away with it.

Please see post #672 for a far-fetched but possible previous connection between Duncan and the Groene family that would mske "getting even" plausible.

I keep wondering why the perp took Shasta to Denney's about a mile or two from her home. Did he want to get caught? Or was it some kind of sick and twisted demonstration of his power over her? As if to say, "See little girl, I'm so powerful I can take ou out in public in your own neighborhood and no one will notice. You're nothing." This poor little girl! A million years of therapy may not undo the harm he's caused her.

There were two calls to 911. The first was from the manager of denys. It sounded kind of weak. Twelve minutes later the guy called and he sounded more sure that it was Shasta and the police came. The police station is not that far from the Denys.

Thank you for the info. Didn't see any of the televison coverage but did know that CDA is relatively small town & figured that LE had a 'read' on the dad and that figured into the equation. What with Brenda's run-ins with the law, Jessie's run-ins, local law enforcement is probably rather well acquainted with him.

I heard a discussion on Fox last night about Couey's confession being thrown out because the cops didn't stop interrogating him when he asked for a lawyer.

Interestingly, the guest said this issue needs to be revisited before the Supreme Court. The Miranda ruling came down at a time when police were alleged to be coercing confessions (I didn't believe that). There is NO allegation of coercion in this case. The ruling has backfired by letting guilty persons go free on a technicality. The court's interest should be the TRUTH, not technical little details of when a lawyer took control of the information flow.

Question: How would this get to the Supreme Court? Can the government appeal contrary judicial rulings in criminal cases? I always thought only the defendant could do so.

Before Amore answers you, allow me a post script to Couey.

They can throw his confession out, but he would have no chance in hell of proving he didn't do it, since they found her body literally at his back door step. We're fortunate he was that stupid.
