What I want to know is, did they find my screwdrivers? All that I have left are the little stubby ones.

As a relic hunter it is often that I find pieces of rock that appear to have been some sort of tool but just naturally broke down that way over time. Hell I even found a round rock with a smiley face on it that came about naturally. lol

Im no expert on these things but collect Indian artifacts and find it all fascinating.

Stone tools are often made of flint and have tiny workings on them that could only be man made, or specific shapes not caused naturally..such as an arrowhead.

They also find objects next to the tools with scratches or marks that show the tools were used to work on them such as bones with scratch marks from having the meat scraped off.

So much of this field is nothing but guess work from a tiny number of facts. But the mystery of it all is what makes it fascinating.

"Stone tools are often made of flint and have tiny workings on them that could only be man made, or specific shapes not caused naturally..such as an arrowhead. "

Modern Apes make tools such as reeds to collect termites from holes. It is possible that these tools were made by an ancient ape species (Hellenthomas uglyrensis).

The homo (human not the other one) line has been making tools for close to 3 million years.

Homo Erectus left Africa as much as 1.5 million years ago. So the tools would be Erectus or Neandethalis as someone else mentioned.

Didn't they tell us the Clovis was the 1st tool? 10,000 years old?

No. No scientist has ever held that the tools found in the Clovis settlements were the "first" tools. Wherever did you hear this? Please provide a reference before you spread this any further.

What makes a stone a tool and not a rock broken in half?[the baddog)

Stone tools are often made of flint and have tiny workings on them that could only be man made, or specific shapes not caused naturally..such as an arrowhead.[nbs]

What's to be excited about? It likely simply evolved from bigger pieces of rock as it was simply roughed up vs. bigger pieces of rock by natural forces...given enough time.

Tom Cruise said they were left here by the Thetans.
Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard revealed that 75 million years ago an alien galactic ruler resolved an overpopulation problem by sending his excess subjects to earth on spaceships. . . . But these billions of alien souls, called thetans, still remain on earth clustered in groups. And Tom Cruise, along with other Scientologists, believes that every Earthling is full of them.

the discovery of several stone tools

Ya gotta love these "intentional design" scientists reading their doctrines into these natural entitites -- transforming mere "stones" into "tools."

Here they take something that's obviously of natural origin, and try to spin it that it had a creator!
