Miramar Police charged city Commissioner Fitzroy Salesman with driving under the influence early Saturday morning after he allegedly fled from a police sergeant trying to make a traffic stop.

Salesman had a blood alcohol level of just over .16, according to an arrest affidavit. The legal limit in Florida is .08. In addition to DUI, he was charged with speeding, violating two stop signs and fleeing and eluding police.

Salesman, 48, was elected to his third term in March. Two calls to his home were not returned Saturday.

According to the affidavit, a police sergeant clocked Salesman at 61 mph in a 40 mph zone around 5 a.m.

The commissioner was cited in 1999 for driving too fast for conditions and was later acquitted on the charge, according to court records. He was charged with disorderly intoxication and resisting an officer without violence in 1998 after an incident at a Miami-Dade County tavern.

Call me nutz, but I see a pattern here I think

Let's see if the police go after this guy as aggressively as they would go after one of us peasants.

Obviously, a case of racial profiling. The cop had to pull over only black guys and picked the Commish. If he had been a white drunk, the cop wouldn't have moved.

Of course, he's a dem and not a Republican. Another way you can tell is that a Republican would probably resign immediately. A dem has a lot of graft and bribes outstanding and can't afford to quit without collecting. So, this guy "will put this behind him," "move forward and continue to serve the people who elected him," and "welcome the opportunity to his day in court where he will be completely exonerated."

Of course, by black standards, this ought to qualify him to run for Congress.

From just the headline, I assumed it was about an official whose duty it is to hook up Commissioners with lobbyists.

Or does he just get off, ala Sandy "pants" Burgular 'cause he's probably a demonKat?

I present that remark, Mu'ab! But you may have a point.

Happily, I live in Tarpon Springs, so all I have to do is never drop the soap in the shower - too many Greeks...Uh-oh...

The drugs just kicked-in........FRegards
