As another FReeper pointed out on another thread about the same topic a while back, "All those muslims they let immigrate into France dont drink" . . . ha ha ha. But it is now the fault of the US that we dont buy enough to offset their weak domestic sales.
Charles Shaw (2 buck Chuck)is my friend these days.

I guess all those Muslims (20% of the population in France) aren't big wine drinkers!

Actually, you may have hit on part of the froggies' little problem. If 25% of the country is already Muslim, and the number is increasing fast, what IS the future of alcoholic drink in france? Answer: continuing decline, to the vanishing point. Poor froggies!

French Wine Growers Protest Weak Market
If you bloody French wankers can't even send some troops to help with the
January 2005 elections...y'all can just take a leap.
My only sympathy for the French is confined to:
1. French military personnel that are chomping at the bit to go to Iraq... ≤br>2. Jews who haven't yet been able to flee The New Vichy France (a province of Eurabia)
AND
3. Decent French-folk who are embarrased by their wussy country-persons.

I drank my last stored bottle of French Wine while watching the Funeral of Ronald Reagan as the ceremony came to a close and the sun set over the Pacific ocean. It was a bottle of 1989 Mouton Rothschild which has the famous art label each year. On the 1989 label the art was two upside down sheep to represent the fall of the Berlin Wall. I bought it in the early 90s and wasn't about to throw it away. I seriously doubt I will knowingly drink any more French wine for the rest of my life.

Do you live near there? Not too far- the ferry docks in Leamington, which is about a four hour drive from Toronto. A group of us have made it an annual thing, we spend the weekend camping on the mainland and spend a day on the island. That spot has got to be Canada's best-kept secret.

I haven't touched French wine since I discovered the Pelee Island Winery.Yeah, why spend an ungodly amount of money for the prestige of having a bottle with "Chablis" on the label, when good Ontario Chardonnay sells at half the price or less?
(American wines are good too, but the difference in climate between California and France is like comparing apples and oranges, as the characteristics of the wine are very different.)

good Ontario Chardonnay sells at half the price or less?Exactly. Twenty years ago the Ontario stuff was only suitable as a condiment for french fries but there is some excellent stuff out there. I still can't get over the prices- ten bucks for a good red or white, twenty for icewine.
