"I don't care if these Neandertals in fancy suits get mad at me, they aren't regular customers anyway. Other than 'Left Behind' books, they don't read. Anything you can do to make them feel unwelcome is only fair. They are the people pushing retailers to cut costs, don't forget. And they would censor your speech, your books, your music in a heartbeat, so give them a taste of it!

____

Oh the left, so free of making people into stereotypes. I guess John Kerry doesn't ever wear a "fancy suit" and Bush never is in jeans and a tshirt(guess they never have seen the pic on my wall of Bush clearing out brush on his ranch). Let's face it if Bush and Kerry walked into a store and these goofs didn't know who they were, they probably could not guess their political affiliation just from looking at them.

Take me for example, I'm a pretty average, normal looking stay at home mother now. It is by far the liberals who are shocked to learn I have a tattoo, wore my hair in the strangest styles and colors in the 80's, and used to write a local 'zine with a friend covering local alternative bands in Miami Beach in the late 80's(low budget thing for those who lived there--not likely to have heard of it, but it got us in to many shows for free!). The conservatives seem to understand that not only do people change over time, but that they have had a life before marriage and kids, and that their backgrounds are diverse. They are the ones who rarely blink an eye when they find out what I was like in my late teens early 20's. It is the liberals who are stuck on the stereotypes and "can't believe it". Narrow minded idiots!

and now, probably 2/3 of their products (by quantity) are imported.

You are wrong. I am in a position to know. Since you are supplying the 2/3 figure, show me your source. As a percentage they buy no more imports than any other large retailer you can name.

They are successful and that bothers unions and liberals.

Good challenge.

I counted articles on the shelves. Hardware section, a couple of toy ailses, some clothing sections.

Totally unscientific. Totally unsubstantiated by anything other than observation in other aisles.

Hooray! The more that is ordered online, the less influence of the individual store workers.

Here is a shocking story from Jay Nordlinger's Impromptus on NRO some weeks ago--

Mr. Nordlinger:

A while back I paid a visit to our local bookstore (I live in southern New Jersey) with the intent of checking out the new release Michael Moore Is a Stupid White Man. I looked on the new-release, bestseller, new-non-fiction racks — nothing. I wandered around for a while and then headed up to the information desk. The clerk, a thirty-something reject from a Grateful Dead concert, smiles at me. Here's a fairly accurate transcript:

CLERK: How may I help you?

ME: I'm looking for Michael Moore Is a Stupid White Man.

C: (still smiling) You mean Stupid White Men by Michael Moore . . .

M: No. Michael Moore Is a Stupid White Man. It's a new release.

C: We don't have it.

M: Are you sure? It's very popular.

C: (taciturn) Never heard of it. (Looks past me) Can I help the next person, please?

M: Excuse me, but can you check on your computer?

C: (very annoyed) Fine. (Bangs away at the keyboard. Scrolls down the screen at warp speed) No. Doesn't exist.

M: Wait — there it is.

C: (extremely annoyed) Oh . . . um . . . Yesss. We only received one copy. It's in the back.

M: Where in the back?

C: (loudly) In the political science section!

M: Thanks!

I checked out the section. The book was nowhere to be found. I walk back to the desk.

M: Pardon me, but I couldn't find it.

C: (Curses under her breath and slams her pen on the counter. Slams swinging door. Marches to the back of the store)

I could not believe what she did next. She grabs a step ladder and climbs up. The book was lying flat on the top row of books — with the spine toward the back so you couldn't see the title. She grabs the book, climbs down, slams it into my chest. Her face is beet red and she screams: "HERE!!! ARE YOU HAPPY NOW, YOU FRIGGIN' FASCIST!??!"

I was shocked, Mr. Nordlinger. This wasn't a mom-'n'-pop outfit. It's one of the largest booksellers in the Northeast that aren't Barnes & Noble.

So I figured, Okay, time for some Brooklyn diplomacy. I walked up to the counter again.

ME: Excuse me: Do you have Treason by Ann Coulter? In the bestseller section? I couldn't find it . . .

That's funny because I used to drop Hillary's book on the floor in Walmart and make sure it was pretty dirty.

LOL, that is good, but I am very surprised they actually sell Bill and Hillary's books in the Travis Air Force Base exchange. I don't know if anyone buys them, but the books are there.

I found a copy at Sam's Club on the Albuquerque west side. The display took up half an end cap, and the (undamaged) book was less than $16.

I know a full time employee at my local Borders, and I will run this post past the person for comment.

Sounds like the authors of "Unfit for Command" have the evidence they need for a lawsuit against Borders.

Go for it guys!

The computer kiosk said it was in stock, but no one could seem to find it.

My friend who words at Borders has said in the past that this is not uncommon for Borders - that they've cut back on staff so badly that the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. That the computer kiosk isn't kept up to date, that often books are in and are put on a different shelf than listed on the kiosk, or simply stay on a pallet in the back room. And this is the sloppy half-a**ed SOP, not just in connection with "Unfit for Command".

I sent a nice cordial email to Borders customer care informing that that unless they handle this, neither myself nor my friends and family will be making purchases at their stores.

Lets hope money still talks.

These Borders employees should be fired if not charged with a crime. Could you imagine if Conservatives were intentionally destroying or hiding Frankin's or Moore's book?

There would be outrage!

I started to send a note to the customer care e-mail address, but wouldn't it be staffed by a union employee? Does anyone have a corporate officer name at their HDQ in Michigan??

My wife and I defend Wal Mart all the time locally with the CTA and the union thugs lying about it. Walmart prices on name brand over the counter drugs and other products made in America are the best in our city.

We buy between $300 to $500 per month at Walmart and never buy anything from China. Our grandkids age 3 and 5 know not to ask us to buy anything made in China. The 5 year old has known that since she was three and could read Ch.

Our oldest son buys his rifle, shotgun and pistol ammo from Walmart at a great price and with no hassle.

9 years ago I wanted to buy a Ruger 357 and our local gun shops had something against Ruger. I bought one from Walmart and sent a copy to both owners. One responded that he would be carrying Ruger, and the other ignored me. Guess which gun store I trade with.

My wife is a head Rn in a busy medical office. The full time Walmart employees have excellent health insurance. Many of their senior citizens work parttime at Walmart and love working there.

BTTT

Just went on the website myself and even read one person's advice to hide the boxes of books coming in, etc. Unbelievable! If they think it's a bunch of hooey, why so afraid? These Libs are truly evil and anyone actually performing any of these stunts should be fired by Borders.

It's this kind of crap that has led me in recent years to do less and less buying at local bookstores and do more at Amazon. These liberal lunkheads don't realize they are damaging their own businesses and jobs.
