At least loyal Coast Guardsman are doing the job, not Jameel Rashid. He is on the signers list -- HERE IS THE ENEMY.

After you read the A.N.S.W.E.R. petititon and see Rashid's name, aren't you glad he was turned in to his commander? Doug from Upland is just so mean.

My experience is 16 years in bunkering Great Lakes shipping in Duluth-Superior and the north shore of Superior. The CG has one very old breaker on the Lakes and I think she might be pre-WW II or certainly that era.
The Canadians have vastly superior equipment and the Russian boats are light years advanced. Otherwise, buoy tenders are about all else that floats up there. Talk about an open border...

I can see having CG in Middle Eastern waters, but in Europe?... With Jack Iraq doing every underhanded thing he can to ruin the liberation of Iraq efforts? Let the darn frogs and schnitzles patrol their own damn oil industry threats!

The Coast Guard plans to modernize its fleet over the next 20 years. Some members of Congress say that schedule needs to shortened.

Then Congress needs to appropriate more money. Maybe we can reduce ethanol subsidies or quit paying people to buy alternative fuel cars or other socialist agenda items in order to provide for the common defense as opposed to the "common good".

Quite so, I didn't know about this. I also heard that the US Secret Service had an office building in Lyons, France. Probably for planning security when the American President come this side of the Big Pond.

Coastie Bump fellow sailor. I hear you loud and clear. I was on the Sweetgum, a buoy tender built in the 40's I believe. It has a beautiful steel hull, which would go nicely with mine sweeping duty which was suggested we do back in 1987.

It was not always a good time, but we make it a good time. Friends for life. We have to give our fellow coasties credit for being in at this difficult time, not an easy mission to accomplish. And usually not regognized on a regular basis.
