France condemns Israel's killing of Rantisi

France condemned Israel's killing of Hamas leader Abdel Aziz Rantisi, with the French foreign ministry saying such "extrajudicial executions" are violations of international law.

"Every state in the region has the right to protect its citizens, but not with no regard for international law," the ministry said in a statement Sunday, referring to the Middle East.

Rantisi, the head of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, and two bodyguards were killed as they rode in his car on Saturday in Gaza City near his home, hospital officials said. Rantisi was one of Israel's top targets after it assassinated Hamas founder Sheik Ahmed Yassin last month.

France "declares yet again that extrajudicial executions are contrary to international law, and are unacceptable," the ministry statement said.

France's belief is that "only through dialogue - and not through violence - will peace be achieved" in the region, it said.

Whereas blowing up Pizza parlors and city buses are
not, and seem to be acceptable to the EU.

Must be a nuance thing.

I keep hearing about this strange beast called "international law." Where is this "law" codified? And who elected the legislators who drafted these "laws?

It all seems so clear now... Jamie Gorelick must be French. Their logic is similar.

Even John Kerry thinks the killing was justified.

,,, last summer around 16,000 French senior citizens died in the heatwave. Care beyond borders is something to indulge in once you've taken care of your own population.

There is no telling how many Palistinian kids Israel will save by targeting the terrorist leaders. But I bet it's more than a few that will avoid the fate of strapping suicide belts to themselves and blowing themselves up, because Israel dared to eliminate these monsters.

There is such a thing as international law and it allows for preemptive strikes.

The same cheese-eating monkeys who surrendered to the terrorists in Iraq. The French are experts in the art of capitulation.
