Here's some details on the caller:

SAVAGE SALVAGES RADIO CAREER

Meanwhile, the man who made the prank call is revealing what he told Savage. Only part of his statement was broadcast, but Savage said he heard all of it in his earpiece and was angrily reacting to it when he told the caller that he should get AIDS and die. Bob Foster, a Sacramento resident who goes by the handle "East Coast Bob," said he told Savage: "I need to suggest that DON and MIKE take your show so you can go to the dentist because you teeth are real bad."

Foster was referring to Don Geronimo and Mike O'Meara, hosts of a syndicated radio talk show.

Foster has gotten a huge response to his MSNBC prank through e-mails people have sent to his EastCoastBob.com Web site. He said the e-mails are "about 20-1 positive."

Foster's site boasts of a number of hoaxes he's pulled on local and national shows. The site includes clips of him faking his reaction to an earthquake on Fox News. But Foster said he's never got more reaction than from the Savage hoax.

The prankster added that he doesn't buy Savage's explanation that he thought his outburst would be cut off the air and he doesn't believe Savage's apology was genuine.

"He was sorry it got over the air, not sorry for what he said," Foster said.

Foster called in after Savage asked for viewers to respond with airline horror stories. After launching into a seemingly legitimate story about someone smoking in a plane's lavatory, Foster then slipped in the line about Savage's teeth.

Savage shot back asking Foster if he is a Sodomite. Foster answered that he was and Savage responded that Foster should get AIDS and die.

For the record, Foster said he's not gay.

So a troll calls a news program and fakes witness testimony about a tragic earthquake and it's "funny" or admirable. He gets told to drop dead and it is a national outrage.

Perhaps you need to find a kinder gentler conservative web forum than FR. While we do not wish AIDS on trolls who post on FR, we do ZOT them and offer many an insult. I take it from your earlier post that you do not approve of such actions here.

From Article: Shock jock Howard Stern's show was yanked Wednesday from Clear Channel Communications Inc. radio stations after an incident on his show Tuesday, the first casualty of its zero tolerance policy on indecency.

Howard Stern wasn't the first casualty according to this article Bubba the Love Sponge was.

(Feb. 25) -- Bubba the Love Sponge was squeezed out of his job as host of a Tampa, Fla., radio talk show Tuesday by the station's owner, Clear Channel Communications Inc. He thus became the first notable casualty of a move to clean up the acts of the nation's shock jocks. Bubba, whose real name is Todd Clem, has long been controversial. In January, the Federal Communications Commission proposed a $755,000 fine against Clear Channel for 26 alleged violations of indecency laws by Mr. Clem dating back to 2001.

I guess you didn't read my post.

My problem was with the FCC, not clear channel.

I agree, CC can broadcast what they please.

The problem is, they might eventually censor Rush for something you and I both know is not wrong morally. In other words, attributing a quote to Rush that he did NOT make to try and create a strawman argument... won't work.

Hillary would censor rush for saying that hillary care is cruel to elders in the long run...
The constitution was provided to LIMIT the power of government. Not create and feed the concept of a selective enforcement nanny-state.

Do you think that pay radio, like XM, should be uncensored? (aside from obvious illegalities, such as broadcasting threats, etc.)

It was known all over Washington that Plame was a CIA employee. She was an office grunt, however, not an agent.

"I used to tune inrto Howard to see what was going on, and after about five minutes I'd change the station."

Now, see how easy that was?

If most of the listening audience were as smart as you, the show in question would be cancelled.

In this case, however, the show in question is wildly popular and makes a ton of money.

I guess we'll all be forced to make our own decisions about what we listen to.

Be consistant. You are the lover of mama's skirts - the biggest skirt there is - The FCC - it is you who praised censorship - as long as it is not against you right?

"plus the fee for the equipment which is still not cheap and not mobile. No walkman XM radios. You need a car and if you have a small desk in a cubicle? You need a ste up for home and for office. Still not easy for people on a budget."

Oh come on, before too long, the receivers will be $29.95 with service contract or something.

"Some folks who call themselves conservatives, would go back to prohibition, if they could."

You do not understand the point. Think deeper.

What this is about is people want to be treated with respect. People really don't want to tune into something and have their intelligence insulted. Maybe people on some sort of substance will have pleasure with the lowest common denominator for a short while. The majority of Americans are not the lowest common denominator. There has to be a minimum standard for communication.

The FCC didn't pull Stern off the air. His boss did.

That's not "censorship." It's just good business.
