You know, for my money, the 'elite' Republican Guard never much lived up to the hype.

Must be a strange definition of 'elite' that means drop weapons and surrender at the first sign of trouble.

To answer your questions:

A company 7th Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault)

Chinook can seat 32 but we carried 45 combat loaded troops (infantry with about 150 lbs. of crap) and a John Deere Gator with a shitload of water and MRE's

This is a comment from my buddy Jim....I'm trying to convince him to become a freeper:

Thank you all for your support. I wish you could all see what really went on over there...we have freed a people and removed a horrible man from power...no matter what excuse was used to go over there. The end HAS justified the means.

As soldiers we volunteer to do what we do and are proud of what we do. "Thank you" is not necessary but it is appreciated.

Jim

No, thanks ARE necessary. Here I sit in the freedom of my my own country. I email, I freep, I play, I see movies, plays, watch TV, eat nice hot foods, drink wine, beer or soda or whatever, enjoy nice hot showers and clean towels and enjoy how many other wonderful things in the nice, warm, cozy comfort of my own home BECAUSE YOU are in a totally opposite environment that is not so friendly and without all those comforts of home I mentioned above.

My husband and I are darned thankful for your sacrifice. You are fighting to keep us safe. You are truly fighting to keep us safe while liberating another country as well who have never even had the opportunity to come close to enjoying what we have in the United States.

So, we will continue to thank you and to pray for your safety and return home to your loved ones. We DO appreciate you and we try to demonstrate that appreciation by shanking hands of soldiers we see in airports or wherever.

You are an American Soldier and we are proud of you! :)

This is another sight Saddam's guard weren't ready for:

Dutch Soldiers hold up a flag of their favorite soccer team Ajax Amsterdam near a roadsign in Iraq.

Not intended as "soccer sucks vs. soccer rules bait." Anyone with a brain knows soccer rules ;-)
