[history]
President Bush is beginning to anger certain hard-line conservatives, particularly over fiscal issues, the way his father did in the year before he lost to Bill Clinton in 1992.
It's not clear how deep the dissatisfaction goes, and whether it will translate to damage at the polls in November.

It won't.

As a conservative though, I will be whole-heartedly voting for GWB. He's done an amazing job for conservatism.

Excuse me Sir, but you are wrong on that one. I am indeed a conservative who will vote for the Constitution Party, the America First Party, or the Libertarian Party or I may write in Tom Tancredo.
You may disagree with my choice. I respect yours, but I AM a conservative.

Excuse me Sir, but you are wrong on that one. I am indeed a conservative who will vote for the Constitution Party, the America First Party, or the Libertarian Party or I may write in Tom Tancredo. None of which are even remotely close to choices a true conservative would make. You're really not much of a conservative at all. I don't know your exact beliefs, but it's very obvious you are no kind of conservative in any manner. I'd imagine you're probably just another one of the national socialist populist union and "middle class" supporting types that lurk around here. Don't kid yourself. You're not a conservative. Conservatives only have one choice in 2004 and the overwhelming majority of them will make that choice happily.

I am not a hard core conservative, I consider myself a mainstream Conservative and I will not be voting for Bush in the Presidential election, especially with his coming endorsement of amnesty for illegals. Between that and his CFR idiocy he lost my vote.
I will however never vote for Dean or any of the other Anti-American/Pro-Muslim crowd. That leaves not voting in the Pres. election or voting Constitution Party, since I value my vote, I will be voting for the Constitutional party in the Pres. election and true conservatives in all others.
To: GunsareOK
I am pissed off too....but Guns are my issue.
I will vote for him if he lets the assault weapons ban fall. If he doesn't...I will sit it out.
To: Texas_Dawg
Yeah, he may lose a few conservative votes from people staying home, but there will be more than enough extra moderates to make up for them.

NO real conservative would help a Democrat get elected.
Voting for some 3rd party is taking a vote away from Bush.
You and people like you are exactly the ones who gave us 8 years of Clinton.
If all the conservatives had voted for Bush I, instead of Perot or some other third party candidate, Bush I had beaten Clinton.
You are personally responsible for the damage Clinton has done to the country for 8 years.
As some pointed out, it's your choice, sure, you can vote directly for Dean, why bother pretending, but you most certainly not entitled to call yourself a conservative, when you are aiding the election of a Democrat.
Anyone aiding and enabling a Democrat to get elected, especially in these critical times is just plain enemy of the US and the American people.
To: GunsareOK
So what will your endorsement for Howard Dean accomplish?
To: Texas_Dawg
I've done a lot more with the DC Chapter than "lurk around." My record with them speaks for itself and I am not part of the "national socialist populist union" anything. If you wish to drink the Bushite Koolaid, be my guest.
To: expatpat
"Yeah, he may lose a few conservative votes from people staying home, but there will be more than enough extra moderates to make up for them."Independents make up 30-40 percent of the voting public, have you talked to any independents recently? If not for the IND. vote Bush would have lost in a landslide in 2000. Something to keep in mind.

I didn't say it. The article made the point that others have said it. I don't want Dean or anyone like him to be President.
To: GunsareOK
Governing always does this. The true believers always get mad when their party is in charge, as it has to pander to the middle to get re-elected.
I'm disappointed in CFR, Medicare (although there are some good things in there) and nonmilitary spending increases, but I'm voting for GWB again due mostly to tax cuts, war and terrorsim concerns, ditching Kyoto and the ICC.
To: antaresequity

I seriously hit my knees and thank God every night that we have a President that does not go out of his way to make people like you happy. We are a much better country and true conservatism is much stronger because of it.

And the two disappointments you mention would have been far worse under the only other alternative in our 2-party system. Bush has done hundreds of things for conservatives that would not have happened had he not been voted in (and will cease the minute he and the GOP are voted out).

Even dogs and rabits can be thought, that if you pull the red lever you get something good, if you pull any of the other 3-4 levers, you will get the same terrible thing.
If you vote for Bush, you get Bush, if you vote for anyone else, you are voting for Dean or whoever the Dem nominee will be.
Why is it, that even animals are able to learn the consequences of actions, but a number of humans are incapable of it?
To: SunStar
His fiscal policies (an Education Bill that panders to NEA teachers who won't vote for him anyway and the drug expansion of medicaid), his failure to control the southern border, and his signing of "campaign finance reform" are my main gripes as well as his reluctant arming of the pilots.
To: GunsareOK

More proof, if any was needed, that conservatives have our share of total morons. Please do not kid let yourself be fooled. By no means are these Buchanan FRinge loons conservatives. Get them talking, especially in private, and it NEVER ceases to fail that they share much more in common with the tenets of national socialism than they do with classic Western, American conservatism. Pat Buchanan's latest column is a great example.

"In other words....you'll be helping elect true LIBERALS. How nice".What's that old saying, "Sticks and Stones", in this case I could care less how other people think I should vote. Bush is pushing through more socialistic programs then any Dim could ever hope to get through. Bush thinks he is undeafeatable so he will ram illegals, more Welfare and gun bans down our throats knowing people like you will vote for him no matter what he does.
To: Texas_Dawg
Conservatives only have one choice in 2004 and the overwhelming majority of them will make that choice happily. Really? The first President Bush assumed that gun owners had 'no where else to go,' after he signed the ban on importation of so-called 'assault weapons.' Guess his assumption wasn't quite correct, and your's may not be, either - especially if the current President Bush renews the '94 Clinton/Feinstein 'assault weapons' ban...

An outright deception and misstatement meant to marginalize every Repu who disagrees.
No surprise from the loafer-licking WT. The bias in their recent editions is overwhelming.
To: Texas_Dawg
He's not a conservative. He spends too much money on things which the Federales have no business buying. He IS a man who stands by his principles and his friends. I don't always like his principles (CFR is fiasco, and promising to sign a new Assault Weapon Ban really p.o.'ed me) or his friends (Presidente Fox and the Saudis), but it is nice to have a man and not a weather-vane for President.

GWB will win in a landslide and crush the Dean-supporting FRinge FReaks. Does the short sighted, short attention span, short memory, instant gratification, one issue wonder crowd get on your nerves also?
I can't figure out whether they are wearing blinders to realty or simply scared of success.
Short Sighted: A vote not cast for Bush is a vote cast for a liberal.
Short Attention Span: Bills have to pass Congress before they can be signed into law - these things don't just magically appear on the President's desk.
Short Memory: 8 Years of Clinton.
Instant Gratification: The left has loaded the Courts and Agencies with people who think they get to re-write the Constitution. It takes time to fix that. Just because it isn't easy doesn't mean it isn't worth doing.
One Issue Wonder: If I don't get my (exact) way on issue X I'm not voting for him (likely for reasons listed above). That always signifies a genius plan in action.

The Bush Administration has announced they are giving amnesty to illegals ??? When you make a statement like that, I am sure you can provide a link to the official announcement.

I said nothing about legalizing drugs (although it may be a platform of the Libertarian Party).
