"They made me do it! Please don't hurt me, Brussels!"

Berlusconi does a rather poor Peter Lorre impersonation.

Berlusconi is just making some comments good for European leftist comsumption for his re-election. I bet he does not believe a word of what he just said. Remember, he is the guy who said that history proves that muslim civilization is inferior to western civilization - and he is right. Of course, the leftist press "crucified" him for that remark.

Remember to remind me when they are passing out fox hole allotments, to make sure we are not assigned the same foxhole. You would be in the fetal position sucking your thumb.

If the foxhole in question were in Iraq, you wouldn't have to worry about anything because I wouldn't be there anyway.

If we're talking about a real war in terror that involves the assassination of radical Islamic leaders RIGHT HERE IN THE UNITED STATES, the sacking of radical Islamic mosques RIGHT HERE IN THE UNITED STATES, and the complete destruction of radical terrorist groups (including non-Islamic ones like ELF, for example) RIGHT HERE IN THE UNITED STATES, then there would not be an issue because you'd never keep up with me anyway.

A leader who obtains power by means of impassioned appeals to the emotions and prejudices of the populace.

I can think of a perfect example of a leader of this sort: One who passes or signs into law an "extremely important" piece of legislation like a nationwide "Do Not Call" list for telemarketers during a time when the nation is supposedly fighting a war for its very survival.

If most of the U.S. troops are still in Iraq taking casualties by the end of next summer, a ticket of Howard Dean and Wesley Clark will win the 2004 presidential election. Karl Rove reminds George W. Bush of this on a daily basis, which is why Mr. Bremer hustled his @ss back to Washington last week for an emergency meeting at the White House to push forward the timetable for transition to a new government.

Well, Rummy said yesterday that they will be there at about the current level for at least two yeats. If having troops in Iraq by then brings us Mr. Clark and and Mr. Dean then we might as well roll over and declare defeat on the war on terror for Iraq is just the beginning of the struggle. I do not think that the american people are that stupid. And I truey doubt that Mr. Rove is running the war in Iraq - you are starting to sound like a Democrat. There will be a couple of offensives before March and the whole thing will be old news before next fall. Now Iran on the other hand...

I disagree. The population as a whole was vehemently against the war, and that goes beyond the left. Berlusconi is absolutely correct in his critique of Islam.
