And when I mean I was there, I was living there 2 months each summer, for a total of 4. In addition, my family currently lives there. I am not Armenian, in case you are wondering, but I have visited the Genocide Museum there, and other places, and also talked to Armenians about that. I am just wondering what you have to say about the Armenian position that 1.5M were massacred by Turkey?

I support the belief that there was a genocide committed by Turkey. And it was the first genocide of the 20th century, before the Holocaust.
There are many Armenians who live in CA.
However, it must be noted that the US and most of the world do not recognize this genocide.
I am interested, however, in how Turkish people refute these claims.

It happened almost 100 years ago. Get over it.
The Turks of today had no more to do with the crap your forefathers endured than the Americans of today had to do with the rape, murder, and genocide carried out against the American Indians in the 1800's.
No one's culture can claim the moral high ground here. The Europeans, the Chinese, the Japanese -- all of them, when they became imperielist, raped, pillaged, and murdered. I bet, if I looked deeply enough, I'd find the same things in Armenian history.
Live in the present. Turkey is still one of the best allies we've got in the middle east. Maybe they didn't let us do everything we wanted to in the past Iraq war -- but I bet the popular support for this war just wasn't there. They certainly were a whole heck of a lot more helpful than the Saudi oil cartel, or the Iranians, or the Jordanians. We really could use some more friends in the middle east -- we don't get them by berating them for crimes committed almost a century prior -- especially when America is likewise guilty of similar evils.

Further dialoque with you seems to be totally useless and painfully so. You are either trying cause agitation here or are unbelievably ignorant. In any case...you are not credible.

Orthodox Armenians as Russian pawns promised independence take advantage of a weak eastern ottoman empire and cleanse themselves what they today call "Western Armenia" but after the communist revolution stumble into uncertainty when Russian support disappears. They are picked up by the French and are able to clear some more land before the French have to leave and those who had to flee come back and take revenge.
Add to that a desperate attempt by the Ottoman state to move Armenians away from the Russian border. An unsurprisingly ill managed deportation. Deplorable, I will admit. The same Ottomans put a price on Ataturk's head, don't you know.
This is not at all like what happened to the Jews in Germany, which my Armenian friends in Turkey will tell you.

Even though it happened in the early 20th century, it does not mean that Turkey can simply forget about it. They must recognize that such a genocide occured and that their government, at the time, was responsible for the murder of Armenians. Just like the German government recognized what they did to the Jews and others during the Nazi regime.

Turks were murdered too. Let the Armenians recognize their folly first. If this were anything like what the Jews had suffered in Germany, then there wouldn't be any Armenians living in Istanbul now.
One of my Armenian classmades' dad is a chemist. His hobby was passed down the generations: He sweeps the gold quarter at the grand bazaar.

Yeah, its true. They recognize that there was murder going on, but they have never used the word "genocide." I asked the US ambassador to Armenia about it, and he told me that Bush made statements regonizing this murder, however, he has never used the term "genocide"

I will be glad when they re-open the Hagia Sophia (Church of the Holy Wisdom) as a CHURCH again!

Why won't Turkey normalize relations with Armenia and open up the border?

Isn't he also regarded as Turkey's Hitler? He and his predecessors are said to be responsible for the deaths of millions of Armenians. True or not?

The Armenians cleansed Eastern Turkey and were supported by the Russians to do so. Until the revolution in 1917. Then there was payback.
The Jews in Germany were not militants. The Armenians in Turkey most definitely were.
If we're so blood-thirsty, we had 800 years to kill these people.

Not true. Just propaganda spread by people who want our land. Armenia in the northeast, Greece in the west.
