Charlottesville Mayor Blames Trump for Violence: ‘Look at the Campaign He Ran’
Grabien News ^ | August 13, 2017

‘I mean, this is not hard’

The Democratic mayor of Charlottesville, Va., Michael Signer, is pinning blame directly on President Trump for the white nationalist protest and related violence that occurred in his city this weekend.

The blame for these events, he said, falls "right at the doorstep of the White House and the people around the president."

On Sunday he appeared on CNN's State of the Union and accused Trump of intentionally courting white nationalists. Here's a transcript:

TAPPER: You said you place blame for these terrifying events -- quote -- "right at the doorstep of the White House and the people around the president" -- unquote.

That is a -- that is a very strong charge to level. Why do you think the president himself bears responsibility?

SIGNER: Well, look at the campaign he ran. I mean, look at the intentional courting, both on the one hand of all these white supremacists, white nationalists, a group like that, anti-Semitic groups, and then look on the other hand the repeated failure to step up, condemn, denounce, silence, you know, put to bed all those different efforts, just like we saw yesterday.

I mean, this is not hard. There's -- you know, there's two words that need to be said over and over again, domestic terrorism and white supremacy. That is exactly what we saw on display this weekend.

And we just aren't seeing leadership from the White House. We certainly are going to see leadership from cities like Charlottesville, from mayors, from leaders all around the country left and right.

Republicans and Democrats, if there is an issue that can unite this country, that this can be a turning point for this democracy, I think it just happened right now this weekend in Charlottesville.

You know, I -- to be honest, it doesn't matter much to me whether -- he's already on the sidelines, I think, of so many issues. But the country is going to move ahead. This will be a turning point for the country to overcome this stuff, just like we have overcome these challenges in our past. And I think it's happening right now, as we speak.

I think the Dems have Harris, Waters, and Warren as leading 2020 candidates. What a powerful and inspiring lineup.

"Look at the Campaign He Ran"

They'll be using this line for the next 20 years or more.

A group of polarizing figures that can rival Obama himself. Just what we need if we want to see more violence in the street.

They all deserve being condemned, and people like the guy in that photograph should be arrested. I doubt they’ll be any difficulty identifying from the picture.

And I’m surprise you’re not a picture of him next to being shot by somebody at the receiving end of that flame

He barely won. With slightly better turnout it could have been Clinton, especially considering how small a margin a number of states were from being won by Clinton. They could win, especially when numerous people with political activist mindsets figure that Republicans or anyone other than Democrats are evil.

Amazing how these people have created an image of Trump in their minds, and made themselves believe the image. Then they hated the image. Trump is flawed, but doesn’t deserve what the left is doing to him.

It took all of 3.6 seconds for them to blame Trump for the incident.

I don’t recall any outrage when a m*slim drove a car into humans.

Violence was clearly purposely instigated by Antifas and BLM demonstrators. Both groups are anti-Trump, anti-Republican, anti-American.

The original report said the demonstrators, the one’s with the permit, had gathered peacefully in the park designated for the event.

Militant antifas lined up across the street with their weapons in hand. The police then closed the park and pushed the peaceful demonstrators out of the park into confrontation with antifas.

This my understanding, but am I right?

I'm not a Southerner. I grew up in Southern California, South Florida and Central Iowa. I now live in Texas but that doesn't make me a person of the South.

“all those different effort”

Oh, wow, like there are SO MANY “right-wing” violent outbursts!

I’m still not clear on just what was involved here.

In any case, look in the mirror, jackass. You bastard commies are ALWAYS fomenting discord, enmity, violence. Never mind it’s racial/ethnic/religious, whenever it suits you, and you NEVER call your side names when they clearly deserve the labels.

Maybe I am missing something, please Help:

The white guys had a Permit to Protest and Rally, all legal like. Correct??

The ANTIFA Brownshirts showed up Without a Permit and began to Protest ILLEGALLY. Correct??

The Police Department REFUSED to Enforce the Law against the ANTIFA Brownshirts for TRESPASSING, Disturbing the Peace, and Holding an Illegal Protest. Correct??

The Police Department willfully and knowingly steered the ANTIFA Brownshirts into the same area as the White Guys. Correct??

I believe I am correct on all 4 points.

WHY HASN’T THE US ATTORNEY ARRESTED AND CHARGED THE POLICE CHIEF AND ALL OFFICERS THERE WITH MURDER,Maybe even the Mayor and Governor if it can be shown they took part in this, under the Felony Murder Rule??

THEY SET THIS UP just as if they Conspired to commit the MURDER themselves and they all belong in PRISON FOR LIFE!!!

And people wonder why I would never trust or believe anything a Government Employee EVER SAYS.

Two incompetents - the mayor and the police chief. Oh, and let us not leave out the Black vice mayor who has a history of posting anti-White comments on the internet.

This is a small city, a university town of 50,000 people, whose officials have no idea how to plan for and handle large demonstrations. Its officials failed miserably in making sure it had adequate law enforcement from its city, surrounding communities and state police. It is quite apparent they did not research the matter in advance with Federal and state law enforcement organizations so as to know just what to expect and how to staff for it.

So now, these incompetents are blaming our President for their failures. Did they forget that it was candidate Donald Trump who campaigned on helping poor Americans of EVERY color to better their situation?

Then there is the matter of their corrupt governor and Clinton pal, Terry McAuliff. He sat around doing nothing, possibly even hoping for a blowup. Then he decides to travel from Richmond to Charlottesville, a drive during which he is shadowed by a police helicopter which ends up crashing resulting in the deaths of two state police officers. Was that President Trump’s fault as well?

What we have here is a silent civil war against our President and law abiding American citizens.

A Freeper was there and has posted his first hand account of how police stood down and removed the barriers that were separating the two groups.

They were not incompetent. They set this up to go down exactly like it did.

You never see these events unless it is in a union, Democrat controlled city.
