Trump is in control of fight with California
The Orange County Register ^ | February 11, 2017 | Susan Shelley

Ever since Donald Trump was elected president, California has resembled the busty blonde B-movie actress in a horror film.

You know the look. Eyes wide. Red lips parted halfway between a gasp and a scream. Hands frozen in mid-flail.

That was the reaction in the scene where President Trump called California “out of control” and said he might have to cut off federal funds.

This terrifying prospect has public officials up and down the state looking everywhere for a copy of the U.S. Constitution. It says he can’t do that, right? States have rights. Right?

You might think so if you read the Tenth Amendment: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.”

That amendment was written to make it absolutely clear, even though the authors of the Constitution thought it was already clear, that the federal government had limited powers. The powers of the states, on the other hand, were “numerous and indefinite,” in James Madison’s words....

It’s so cute that Libs use words they don’t understand.

Yup.

Security regarding noncitizens falls directly in the purview of national defense. There is no tenth amendment agreement there.

The spillway at Oroville Dam is the tip of the iceberg for the California maintenance that is governed by the Democrats in Sacramento. Our roads, which are the highest costs per mile for maintenance, rated 47th in the US for quality and drivability. I am not an advocate for Trump to withhold funds, but Jerry Brown is begging for a fight because of control and being childish. Jerry is jealous that he isn’t the president, so he like other Fascist Democrats make threats against the Federal Government. He stomps his feet and shakes his fists. Like a little boy in the schoolyard. Trump responds by acting the same way. We are going to run out of money fast just cleaning up from the storms, and with the snow pack, problems like Oroville lake spillway will continue to happen. And we have highways all over the state right now closed due to mudslides and avalanches. And many towns have flooded, causing many to be homeless now. We are in the middle of a major crisis. And Jerry wants to act like a 6 year old child

49-1 says that the rest of us will get by without California’s “help”.

He's not acting. Liberals are children.

It doesn’t matter how much California produces if a supermajority of their citizenry supports defying Federal law and readily accepts fraud waste and abuse from the government it elects. California can eat their own garbage.

And how about Americans? Can Americans eat their own garbage too? Because when Obama was in office you probably didn’t go on about how all Americans are trash. Yet the sane, conservative people of California who are disgusted with the liberal coup that has resulted in our crazed “selected officials” are regularly told by fellow freepers that we deserve it, had it coming etc. Well, we don’t. I didn’t “deserve” Obama - I agitated against all that he stood for. I don’t deserve the snowflakes in CA, I agitate against them. But, I guess your ego needs regular stroking, huh? We don’t run like you do - we stay and fight. We don’t understand how we are ever going to win the battle against the leftist corruption by turning tail-between-the-legs like you do.

Good points. It should be interesting to see how the feds/Trump responds to the request to designate parts of CA as a disaster zone so it can get federal emergency funds to repair things.

Trump could simply say sure thing; right after you lose all this talk about a sanctuary state and get rid of the sanctuary umbrella over the cities in CA and do it all legal like on paper through lawyers and such. In fact while we’re at it; let’s make sure everyone working in CA goes through the e-verify check just to be on the safe side to make sure you don’t have anyone not having a green card or an American citizen working and taking jobs the legal people need then if a company is found to be employing illegals recheck them every month for 2 years and fine them $25k per illegal. Also physically check all companies to see if they numbers of employees match the number they say are employed. In fact, since we’re on the same page finally, let’s make sure no one who is illegal is getting any welfare in any form. Mothers of anchor babies do not qualify. They can take the baby home to find work and raise their kid who can come back later while we work on closing that anchor baby loophole. Sorry; your Beverly Hills celebs are just going to have to clean their own homes or pay someone here legally to do it.

Okie dokie?

Get the illegals, and the illegal vote that goes with them, out, and CA may stand a chance.

Pretty sure we’ll manage. Hate to lose that many miles of coastline, but other than that, meh. And I grew up there, before escaping 20 years ago.

Its going out of control, they cannot use the outlets at the base of the dam because the generator station is flooded, the main spillway is eating into the mountain and the water going over the emergency spilway is washing away debris plus saturating the mountain base of an earth filled dam.

Its going to go by next weekend, heavy rains coming back.

Thank you! Well said. California needs to be rescued from our corrupt swamp just like DC. I pray for the Trump momentum to spill out in CA!
