Trump Wild Cards: Lieberman Touted for State, Cruz for Supreme Court
NewsMax ^ | December 5, 2016 | Mark Swanson

At the risk of "offending" the millions of people who supported and fought for him, Donald Trump should drop Mitt Romney from consideration for Secretary of State, best-selling author and radio host Wayne Allyn Root wrote for Townhall.

He added, there are two darkhorse names the President-elect should consider for his administration: Joe Lieberman and Ted Cruz.

Root, an early supporter of Trump's, makes the case for Cruz for the Supreme Court vacancy, and offers up 5 reasons why Lieberman would be a solid choice for Secretary of State:

•Expand the GOP tent looking ahead to 2020.
•Expand the tent with Jewish voters....

Trump needs to stick to that list of 21 judges he put out during the campaign. To do otherwise will totally undermine his credibility.

Perhaps he can appoint Cruz to a future opening.

I like and respect Joe Lieberman as one of the last of the thinking liberals, but NO.

Joe Lieberman is better than Mitt, or at least he was the last time Joe spoke on international issues. He’s a Jew who doesn’t hate Israel, and he loves America. Domestically, he’s a big government liberal, but that doesn’t matter for State.

As for Ted Cruz, I like him for the Court (much more than for the White House!). Perhaps President Trump should appoint Ted Cruz the second or third time he gets an opening, but he should keep his word on the first opening.

Perhaps he can appoint Cruz to a future opening.

Exactly. Perhaps start Cruz at the federal circuit court level.

Buckeye McFrog said: "Trump needs to stick to that list of 21 judges he put out during the campaign. To do otherwise will totally undermine his credibility."

When exactly did he enlarge the list from 11 to 21? Would it satisfy you if Trump adds Cruz to the list and then selects him from that modified list?

Cruz could be AG or Supreme Court.

But he’s not a diplomat. He is not personable. He is not smooth. He cannot be the Secretary of State. Just not suited.

Were you at the top of your class at Harvard Law School? Did you clerk for a Supreme Court Justice? Were you the longest-serving Solicitor General in your state's history? Did you win Bush vs. Gore?

NO and NO.

I tend to agree with this author on things but Cruz needs rehabbing still, maybe be appointed to something down the road.

Liberman I like but for more behind the scenes right now.

My list to date (in order of preference) of the people I've seen mentioned for this role is as follows:

1. Giuliani
2. Romney
3. Bolton
DQ. Petraeus (convicted criminal, disqualified)

This is not a very compelling list of candidates for the U.S. Secretary of State post. I would put Lieberman at #4 on this list -- ahead of only the disqualified convict.

NONONONONO----Joe Lieberman---NONONONO---he's as phony as a three dollar bill.

As a Connecticut Senate candidate, he challenged pro-abort weichert.

Lieberman went to pro-lifers and outright lied---said he was pro life and made all kinds of promises ....... that got him in.

On six separate occasions Lieberman voted FOR partial birth abortion.

The Ntl Right to Life Committee has all the gruesome details on this jerk.
