Trump returning to Colorado Saturday
The Denver Business Journal ^ | September 14, 2016 | Mark Harden, news director

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump plans to campaign in Colorado Springs on Saturday.

According to his campaign website, Trump is slated to appear at a rally at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at JetCenters of Colorado. Tickets are available through the website.

Trump previously campaigned in Denver and Colorado Springs on July 29. He also headlined a private fundraising event in Aspen on Aug. 25, hosted by Denver homebuilder Larry Mizel.

On July 1, he spoke at the Western Conservative Summit in Denver.

The announcement of Saturday's appearance comes as a tracking poll shows Trump with a slight lead over Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton among Colorado voters.

The Reuters/Ipsos poll, updated weekly, currently shows the Republican ahead of Clinton by 3 percentage points in the state. Most previous Colorado opinion polls showed the New York businessman trailing Clinton in the state.

Jeff Hays, El Paso County Republican Party chairman, told the Colorado Springs Gazette that polls in the state “have narrowed” and Trump has “got a chance in Colorado.”

“Make no mistake. Donald Trump is a distinct underdog in Colorado,” the Washington Post’s Dan Balz reported Tuesday.“He’s hobbled by demographic realities here and by a record of statements that have alienated the very groups of voters who will be pivotal in November.”

Balz notes that Colorado has large percentages of college-educated women and Hispanics, two groups that strongly favor Clinton nationwide.

But Balz adds that Clinton’s Colorado backers “worry about a lack of enthusiasm for Clinton and warn against complacency born of overconfidence.”

Clinton last campaigned in Colorado in early August, headlining a rally in Commerce City.

The electoral map is opening up for Trump. He’s on offense and Hillary is reeling. Good thing she got that “clean” bill of health because she’s gonna have to be putting in more campaign stops than she thought she had to do.

“The electoral map is opening up for Trump.”

Just for kicks I’d like to see him hold an event in Madison Square Gardens or Yankee stadium. Filling up Yankee stadium would make the demondogs need new underwear.

A rally in California would be nice too

Maybe if he gets the “swing states” a little more solid he could do that. Winning NY state would, at this point, bury PIAPS.

I also wonder if Massachusetts is as deep blue as the demondogs think. It seems that they elect a moderate republican fairly often. as governor.

If Trump gets control of the electoral college he should start looking to see if a blue state or two can be flipped

And yet I have seen two or maybe three Hillary bumper stickers in the last year.

Indeed. I think that at one point, there was talk from Trump that he was going to hit every State during the campaign. I wonder how many he is up to by now....

I wouldn’t waste money on the left coast and most of the northeast, but the rest the country especially the Rust Belt, is up for grabs. I see Trump having a victory similiar to Bubba’s two triumphs in the 350 to 370 electoral vote range, winning a number of blue states including Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

Colorado Springs - El Paso County - is a GOP stronghold.

Trump will carry it easily in November.

New CO poll, Trump up 4. First poll I’ve seen of him leading in CO. Emerson, likely voters.

Game changer for Trump, and this isn't the first poll I've seen with him leading in CO. With this, plus NV, IA, FL, OH, and ME-2 (well, ME-2 wouldn't matter in this equation but he's polling well there anyway), he'd win 275 EV to Hillary's 263, without the need for Virginia or Pennsylvania.
