For the second time in two years, New York State Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney visited with the The Dispatch newsroom for a wide-ranging discussion of current issues while campaigning throughout the 22nd Congressional District.
The New Hartford woman is facing George Phillips, a Catholic school teacher from Endicott and Steve Wells, a Cazenovia businessman, in the June 28 Republican primary election. The winner will face Democrat Kim Myers in November.
The four are vying to replace Republican incumbent Richard Hanna, who chose not to run. In 2014, Hanna narrowly defeated Tenney for the seat.
The heavily-Republican district includes all of Chenango, Cortland, Madison, and Oneida counties, and parts of Broome, Herkimer, Oswego, and Tioga counties.
One of Tenney’s major concerns for the district is its lagging financial situation. “How do we rebuild the economy in this area?” she asked.

Claudia Tenney would be a great Congresswoman. There is one problem. The Democrat running, Kim Meyers, is a scion of the Dicks Sporting Goods store chain and she’s very wealthy.
It’s a GOP district.
That could be problematic.
She has to get by the primary first, she has 2 opponents, one has outraised her.
They are GOP State Committeman Steve Wells ($) and former former Congressional Aide and county legislator George Phillips, a two-time nominee against Maurice Hinchey in the old 22nd.
Tenney has the Conservative party’s backing. The ACU endorsed Phillips, a decision Tenney calls a disgrace.
Claudia Tenney is an outstanding person; in fact I heard her on political analyst Fred Dicker’s radio show on Wednesday.
I also like John Faso a lot who is also running for Congress.
Lies are being spread about these two wonderful people, so I hope people do their research to find out the truth.
I’ve been following Claudia Tenney and John Faso for quite awhile, and they are both solid, principled conservatives.

^This should count the most in NY State, plus Claudia received the NRA endorsement which is VERY important in NY especially after Cuomo’s so-called “Safe” Act.
Folks who live in her district ought to call the local talk shows, and write letters to editors to let folks know Claudia Tenney is the most conservative one in the race and by a LOT.
When she was on political analyst Fred Dicker’s show, she said she had a 97% attendance in the assembly, but some are trying to make her look like some kind of no show. What I love about her is that she is a FIGHTER, and boy, do we need more of those in the House.
She is also pro-life which is very important to me, many others, and unborn babies!

Since it’s a GOP district, we need for the RIGHT Republican to win. Tenney seems to be the only conservative running.
It is so refreshing to have a true conservative, like Tenney, from liberal NY, who DOES want us to live FREE!

FYI: Last I read Claudia Tenney is ahead, and I think she would be even further ahead if it weren’t for the FALSE attack ads such as:

I’m not from her district, but strongly support her because we need so badly more like her in the House.
