With its nomination settled, the GOP has been healing its wounds, but Democratic feelings are still raw because of the ongoing fight between Clinton and Sanders.
The latest round of polls released prior to Memorial Day weekend, which showed Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in a virtual tie, set off intense hand-wringing among Democrats, Clinton backers, and Trump detractors alike. They much preferred the polls from a month earlier giving the former secretary of State a double-digit lead over the real-estate mogul.
Whats lost on many people is that any trial heat between Trump and Clinton today is like comparing apples and oranges. Trumps nomination fight is over while Clintons contest is still at a messy stage. Republicans who backed one of the 16 other GOP candidates have coalesced to a significant degree, painfully progressing through Elizabeth Kübler-Rosss five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.
Many establishment figures, who I never thought would come to terms with Trump as the GOP nominee, have now moved to healing and closure, if somewhat reluctantly. They are quick to point out that Trump wasnt their first choice, but, when the bugle sounded, they and other party war horses got in line. Sometimes it was more a matter of lining up against Clinton rather than behind Trump, and some even found it difficult to endorse Trump by name. One former Republican senator compared Trump to the villainous Harry Potter character Lord Voldemort, he who must not be named. Even so, most partisans ultimately get behind their candidate, for better or worse, and so it is with todays Republicans....

This reminds me of when Cruz told Trump he couldn’t beat Hillary. Trump: “If I can’t beat her then you’re really going to get killed!”. Classic. Ted just gulped and smiled.
Reality check, unfortunately.
Please read it.
Still on your anti-trump tirades, eh? At least you have toned it down some.
Charlie Cook is one of those bright minds who wrote that Trump had no chance of winning the nomination.
Hillary represents wall street and Bernie supporters are socialists. Anybody who doesn’t see a problem there for her is either delusional or a dumbass like Charlie Cook.
I don’t see 2DV being anti-Trump here.
Did you READ IT?
Now read it.
I did. It paints a dismally tight race.
So what’s your interpretation of this article?
OMG! The article is as plain as day.
Maybe. I can make similar assumptions that indicate a Trump landslide. Historically my assumptions have fallen flat. But I feel (or hope) the anti-establishment and anti-hillary attitude will come through this time. The Trump and Bernie primaries seem to support optimism (for my goal of Trump, not Kristol’s goal of Hillary)

Cook is very smart when his personal choice is winning.
Otherwise he’s like Nate Silver, giving a million excuses to explain away what is happening before their very eyes.

I see it. Charlie Cook is a deranged Nevertrumper. He actually wrote that the Hillarybot Chuck Todd is “always-prescient”.
Chuck Todd is one of the dumbest people on television. His simulations about the GOP nomination concluded that Trump had no path to getting the delegates and that a contested convention was a done deal.
Trump will beat crooked Shitlery like a rented mule...
The article does not cover motivation and enthusiasm and voter turnout. We have seen lots of enthusiasm for Trump which can mean a higher than usual voter turn out.
We can think of nearly 200 people. Only one has indicated a willingness ( not a desire, he’s just considering it is all) to vote for Hillary. By contrast, Trump ( and Bernie) enjoy great support — plus a number of Bernie people say they’ll definitely vote for Trump before they’ll ever vote for Hillary the Corruptoidess We do not see Hillary as having a chance in Hell of beating Trumo
