Latest polls have Democrats in a panic
The Sun Sentinel ^ | May 25, 2016 | Doyle McManus

emocrats hoped this presidential election would be a cakewalk. In their eyes, the presumptive Republican nominee, Donald Trump, spent most of the spring alienating big chunks of the electorate, beginning with women. Meanwhile, the presumptive Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton, has run a careful, well-funded, well-honed campaign. What could go wrong?

And yet, in a spate of reputable surveys Trump has suddenly erased the advantage Clinton had held all year. The average of major polls compiled by the website RealClearPolitics shows the two candidates tied with 43 percent each. In at least three polls, Trump has even pulled ahead by a slim margin. That's been enough to send some Democrats into a swivet. But they shouldn't panic.

First of all, polls in May don't have much predictive value about an election that's more than five months away.

Four years ago, in May 2012, Mitt Romney was tied with President Obama in the RealClearPolitics average, just as Trump and Clinton are tied today. In November, Romney lost by 4 percentage points.

In May 2008, John McCain was only a little behind Obama, according to the same index. In November, McCain lost by 7 percentage points....

Why are they panicking? Hillary will win in a landslide and waltz into office! She does not even need to campaign against such a loser as Trump!

Late in the election, McLame decided to suspend his campaign to help the Senate deal with the economic meltdown, which was the most boneheaded move in presidential politics since Dukakis put on the helmet.

Sigh. I still cringe when I think about it.

I agree.

She should do McKinley one better and run a "back porch campaign".

It wasn’t the helmet per sé that did him in, it was riding around in a tank looking like Alfred E. Newman in a helmet.

Has anyone read the article? This guy is a looney leftie LA Times columnist who is delusional about what the country thinks about Hillary. He’s not worried, but his fellow travelers ought to be.

The RATS are never in a panic — they know that they can always depend on the fourth branch of government, the MSM.

You know me... the demographics in this country are different.

If Hillary wins, it won’t be by a landslide.

When you look at history of by state voting for the last two decades, its far from encouraging.

Simply put, as things stand now, Cankles will likely be our next Prez.

Its not what people want to hear but conservatives must deal with reality, not with how we would like the world to be.

Let me make it clear I’m completely supportive of Trump but he has an uphill task ahead of him.

By October we should have a clearer picture of the state of the race.

Be free of your Hairshirt, Cali Colleague: The Donald brings into play minor states like New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, Wisconsin, Michigan, and should give the West Coast one helluva run.

God Bless America.

Possible pick ups - OH and VA.

The rest are always a tease but go D in the end.

Trump won’t win NY unless its a landslide election and then it won’t matter.
