A new national poll suggests that Bernie Sanders' continued presence in the Democratic primary has damaged front-runner Hillary Clinton by helping close the gap between the former secretary of state and presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump.

The NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released Sunday shows that Clinton's lead over the billionaire businessman has shrunk to just three points, with the former first lady "weighed down by resistance from [a] significant chunk of Sanders supporters," as CNBC chief Washington correspondent John Harwood tweeted.

Pollsters, too, have attributed Clinton's shrinking lead in part to resistance from Sanders supporters....

Even some socialists are smart enough to figure out that there is more available to loot from a country which is strong and prosperous.

Trump needs to send Ivanka, and Tiffany as campaign envoys for college kids.

20-40 percent of his supporters don't know why they are supporting him, they just like the excitement. I'll bet 25% of the younger kids supporting him easily move to Trump.

I wouldn’t count on a Bernie supporter to keep their word on anything.

Personal character and self responsibility are foreign, indeed hostile, concepts to collectivist.

A lot of those young voters who don’t move to Trump won’t vote. hillary’s storm troopers went WAY TOO FAR rigging the nomination, some of it happened long past when they had any reason to do so. It’s hard to imagine Sanders voters being highly motivated come election day.

and many of them are very nice people so when you meet up with any please don’t talk ugly about Bernie...

they’ll gladly agree with you about much of the Hillary stuff...

that’s such a good start...

we want them to vote for Trump in Nov...

“only 66 percent of Sanders backers said they would support Clinton over Trump.

A new ABC News/Washington Post poll showed similar but less drastic results, with 20 percent of Sanders supporters saying they’d vote for Trump over Clinton.”

These are biased polls. Most of Sander’s supporters hate Clinton. Probably about 1/3 would back Trump, 1/3 would back Clinton and 1/3 would back neither.

But as time goes on more would probably move to Trump.

The reality is Bernie is tapping into the same disgust with the system that Trump did... not all of his supporters mind you, but some... and those some will jump party rather than vote for the continued system.... Another percentage will stay home rather than vote for Hillary.

Hillary has no shot in Nov folks.. I now the press is going to try to make this look like a horse race, but this was over the day it became obvious Trump was going to be the nominee.

Not only that, but all the Clinton sins of the 90s that at the time politics dictated be ignored or covered up, will be laid bare... and this time there won’t be the idiots in congress or party loyalty over all filtering the rage of the electorate at them.

Hillary is by far the weakest candidate since McGovern. Though unlikely she will perform as bad at him because of how balkanized by the political class has the electorate has become.... She will be humiliated.

well said. Trump doesn’t need Marxists to win. They’d do precisely the opposite of making America great again.

Bernie offers 2 things: Authenticity and Socialism.

Trump offers 2 things: Authenticity and Freedom

If you prefer Bernie, obviously you prefer socialism over freedom, and given a choice between two Authentic candidates, you will go with the socialist.

However, remove Bernie, and authenticity is no off the table for you unless you care about authenticity more than broken economic models or a fad.

Most democrats, and probably even more so with Bernie supporters, have no idea what an economy is in the first place. But everyone knows what authenticity is. Other than the socialism, the reason to love Bernie are the exact opposite of the reasons to love Hillary - in fact - they are reasons to hate her.

So, assuming we have Trump vs Hillary, which I hope, this is going to be an absolutely devastating landslide. By the time Trump is done with her, It wouldn't surprise me to see 40% of Bernie supporters switch over, ESPECIALLY the young ones (polls are now saying they will desert the witch in droves.)

Numbers like this don’t matter until after the conventions when both sides have time to come together and unify themselves fully.
