Exclusive: Gina Loudon reveals candidate who holds all cards to stop establishment

Phyllis Schlafly has been watching the GOP establishment pick our presidential candidates since before she wrote about it in her book, "A Choice not an Echo," in 1964. She will tell you, the only president elected in her lifetime without the blessing of the establishment was Ronald Reagan.

Reagan's ability to communicate with and inspire the American people was the only force more powerful than the money and apparatus of the establishment machine.

Jeb Bush was obviously the pick of the establishment. The money was there, and Bush was definitely spending it, but the GOP primary voter has not been swayed by the hundreds of millions of dollars being thrown at them.

After South Carolina, this is a very different race.

Bush is out, and Rubio is the clear heir of the establishment crown that Jeb relinquished when he suspended his campaign....

So Trump is Reagan? Bull- and the maunderings of a 91 year old woman out of touch with the lack of a principled conservative in the personage of trump. Vs. “winning”. Winning what? Key elements in analysis are missing. Like trump’s supporting of McConnell and his “malleability” in Carter’s words (Jimmy Carter!!)— the premise being that the reverse psychology is they tell us who they want so we won’t want them— that kind of bilge water. The issues ARE the issues, and who will fight to keep out illegals. It sure won’t be Rubio. It would be wise and hugely strong for a certain pair to work together— but unlikely given one person’s obvious personality and ego flaws.

Cruz was stupid to cozy up Trump the first time

Disagree. The strategy of not attacking Trump is likely what gave him enough support to win Iowa. Since his pivot, the campaign has had the wheels fall off.

I'll put this question out to all....If Cruz suspends his campaign in the near future, who would he endorse? (My money would be on Rubio).

At this point, Cruz may not have any hope of winning the presidency, but he holds all the cards in his decision to hand the election to the establishment. An outsider victory lies solely in the hands of Ted Cruz. One way or another, his commitment to ousting the establishment will become obvious.

This is very true in my mind. We will soon know if Cruz is a true outsider or not, depending on his choices when he runs out of money. With all the Establishment donors jumping on the Rubiamnesty bandwagon, Cruz will have some important decisions to make -- decisions that will affect his entire future political career.

"Do I get behind Rubio The RINO and take this cabinet/SC/? position he's promising me?"

"Or do I get behind Trump and take this cabinet/SC/? position he's promising me?"

I'm betting he succumbs to the temptation, chooses Rubio, and then becomes that which he professes to hate -- a bonafide member of The Washington Cartel.

I hope I'm wrong and being overly pessimistic.

That is one of THE dumbest things I have EVER had the misfortune to read here; bar now!

Why the bleeding hell would Trump take on Cruz as his VEEP, when he can easily win Texas IN THE PRIMARY AND THE GENERAL ELECTION all on his own?

Why oh why would Trump 'step down after 2 years as president? THAT'S BEYOND TWILIGHT ZONE NUTS !

Teddy isn't even eligible to BE anyone's VEEP...let alone president and both of them know this!

And Cruz isn't fit to lick the bottom of Trump's shoes! Teddy is a nasty, vile, arrogant little FRAUD of a man, whose ONLY ability is memorization. Otherwise, he's a complete NITWIT!

The same guy who mocked Reagan and his economic policy as “voodoo economics”.

Who else would he endorse? Does he have to endorse anyone?

The strategy of not attacking Trump is likely what gave him enough support to win Iowa.

He was being attacked by Trump long before Iowa.

But you seem to be ignoring the fact there is a difference between, 'not attacking Trump' and the cozying Cruz was doing. Trump used Cruz. Trump got a lot out of it, and Cruz got negative from it.

How many more delegates did Rubio receive there than Cruz?

Look, unlike many here, I post from intellect and EDUCATION; NOT from emotion!

Yes, Ted is a slimy lawyer, who took on slimy cases and won some, lost some, and as long as he OVERCHARGED and made pots of money, he didn't give a damn. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could lift up my Jeep and throw it. I have done my homework on Cruz ( since FINALLY some actual FACTS have at long last come out about him ), studied him, and he comes up wanting and very much so...even if hes were a NBC, which he is NOT!

I'd LOVE to see Rudy as AG, but i don't think he'd take it.

I don't know how old you are, but I'm willing to bet that I have been immersed and steeped in politics for far longer than you have and so my educated opinions have always been and still are EMOTION FREE !

There is one thing wrong with your outside the box. It’s illegal for any presidential candidate to offer anyone a position if elected. So, making a deal with Ted would get Trump in all kinds of hot water. Remember this - Ted wants to be president himself. IF Trump made such a deal, little Ted would run to the media and report it - to take him out.

I”m thinking outside the box, and I’m right.

Your “holy roller” comment was uncalled for. From what I know, Ted is a southern Baptist - I have never known a SB to roll on the floor, unless that person was on fire - then it’s stop, drop and roll.
