Texans start voting in the presidential election in eight days....

(Excerpt) Read more at texastribune.org ...

TOPICS: South Carolina; Texas; U.S. Congress
KEYWORDS: earlyvoting
Texas polling places open February 16. Candidates who are wasting time in South Carolina or Nevada are going to find out a lot of Texans who are going to vote will have voted before those other states get around to opening their polling places.

Campaigns looking at the March 1 date on the calendar don't understand Texas voting.

Gee. I wonder how that's going to turn out? :)

Most recent poll (pre-Rubio collapse) shows Cruz with a 5 point lead over Trump, with Rubio 3rd and Bush 4th. Cruz has a huge lead with Black voters and those over 65.

Margin of error about 3.5% on that poll.

Interesting. I guess this is a way to skirt the GOP primary rules. If Texas moved up the final day of voting, they would run afoul of the rules, but by simply moving up the date that early voting starts, what can the GOP do?

Texas could have had virtual veto power over the GOP nominee by having a winner-take-all primary on March 15.

Careful what you wish for. We'll be solid blue by 2020.

With all illegals voting early and often, this Texan is worried.

My vote is going for Trump. With everything that’s come out on the recent Canadian, he’s never getting another vote here for even dogcatcher. No more Bushes. No more non-NBCs or gay strippers like Rubio. Christi is likely to be out of the race before early voting starts in TX.

Yup. Spouse has already cast mail-in ballot here in Texas since he has walking disability. Early voting starts Tuesday and I will be among the early in line. Huge number of Texans will have already voted when So. Carolina or Nevada votes.

The primary systems is stupid. If we can have the general election on one day, why not primary all the states on one day?

“Careful what you wish for. We’ll be solid blue by 2020.”

Not happening - too many Texas Hispanics REFUSE to drink the Democrat Kool-Aid.

Remember, we were supposed to be purple in 2014 and Republicans WON EVERY STATEWIDE ELECTION by 20 points, with at least 40% Hispanic support.

It was all a ruse by the Dems to panic our side into supporting Amnesty - which actually would have caused Texas to turn blue.
