“If Cruz DIDN’T think his judgment was better than Trump’s, Carson’s, and the rest, he has no business running.”

If I said that good judgment is a challenge for you, I could technically be banned from the forum. It would arguably be a personal attack.

Of course good judgment is required, but it is not good judgment to insult someone unless you intend to prove it.

Of all the times to question Trump’s judgment — during this particular controversy? It’s ‘poor judgment’ to reduce the risk of terrorism when it is CHRISTIAN refugees who are being banned while we roll out the red carpet for high-risk terrorism risks?

Is it good judgment to side with those who didn’t give a FIG that Christians are being sold into sex slavery, tortured, murdered, and terrorized by sadists worse than the Nazi S.S. ever was? But GOD FORBID if ‘peace loving’ muslims are banned — that’s the creeps he wants to side with at this juncture?

I’m glad Cruz has been deliberative, but there are only TWO sides on this question of judgment.

Trump may have released his proposal to ban Muslims from entering the country in an attempt to boost his support with evangelical voters in Iowa.

IOr maybe he said it because he thinks that is what we should do.

This is the dilemma in which conservatives who are uncomfortable with Trump find themselves. It goes to his motivation. Diehard cynics want to believe his every word is motivated by ambition. They believe he is saying things no one else is daring to say because he has a unique understanding of the attitudes of patriots and is merely parroting their attitudes but in his heart of hearts he does not mean any of it and is an elitist who wants to take over the world. Or whatever.

Trump's conservative critics miss the salient point that he could assume far more centrist policies and be ahead of where he is. He could win over the GOPe and queasy Hillary parties and have a near universal mandate. If he were purely motivated by some sort of elitist value system he would be enticing the middle, not the extreme right.

I do not assume to know what is in Donald's mind. I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt because I like the "take no prisoners, damn the torpedoes" leadership he is espousing.

Perhaps why Ted occasionally says and does things that are out of synch with the bulk of his rhetoric.

This is a simple public-relations game between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz to take-down Ben Carson and Marco Rubio ...

Yes, it is. It's also another chunk for red meat for the usual suspects to pounce on.

Chill, Donald. It’s a question of judgment.

Cruz is really smart and, as we’ve seen many times, very good on his feet. Its not in his nature but Trump would be well advised to avoid poking a wily and formidable “badger” like Cruz.

I’m no longer interested in voting for Ted Cruz, nor do I want him to be on the ticket with Trump.

What exactly did he say that was “criticism”? Please quote it.

I like and respect both Donald and Ben. I do not believe either one is going to be our nominee. I don't believe either one is going to be our president. I think both of them, their campaigns have a natural arc. And with both of them I think gravity is pulling them down... Carson is further in that descent. You look at Paris, you look at San Bernardino, it's given a seriousness to this race, that people are looking for: Who is prepared to be a commander in chief? Who understands the threats we face? Who am I comfortable having their finger on the button? Now that's a question of strength, but it's also a question of judgment. And I think that is a question that is a challenging question for both of them. So my approach, much to the frustration of the media has been to bear hug both of them, and smother them with love. People run as who they are. I believe gravity will bring both of those campaigns down, I think the lion's share of their supporters come to us.

Cruz says Trump is unfit to be CIC because of his "poor judgement". Man up Cruz, say it in public.

Sure he did. Cruz made a pretty innocuous statement and Trump just had to blow it up into internicine war.

Cruz doesn’t need to engage in that kind of game. Slowly but surely, he’s gaining momentum. He’ll be fine.

It’s an interesting theory, but here’s where it falls apart: Cruz is REVILED by the GOPe. He’s completely managed to piss them off, sending them into fits of stuttering fury over the last few years.

If thats genuine, then you can’t peg Cruz as establishment.

If you want to peg Cruz as establishment, you have to build it on the notion that the GOPe anger at him is competely contrived. That there’s some sort of massive GOPe conspiracy thats managed to successfully suppressed their secret support of Cruz under the veneer of trashing him at every opportunity.

Or, you can just acknowlege that Cruz’ anti-establishment beliefs and actions do appeal to a good number of big-money Conservative donors. Which in no way detracts from the anti-establishment appeal Trump has as well.

:Donald’s campaign strategy is to keep everyone talking about the Donald rather than issues."

Ted Cruz's campaign strategy is to say "me too" to every issue Trump brings to the table.

On the other hand, it could be a coordinated effort between Trump and Cruz to keep the focus on them and off the 5%ers.
