Are Republicans Drafting Mitt Romney? 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know
Heavy ^ | November 13, 2015 | Stephanie Dube Dwilson

Rumors are starting to fly that Republican elites are considering adding Mitt Romney to the Republican primary in a last-minute attempt to destabilize the popularity of non-traditional candidates Donald Trump and Ben Carson, The Washington Post reported. But this seems to be mostly rumor and speculation from his friends, since Romney himself has said he won’t run again and no one has gone on record yet with specific plans to draft him. What’s really going on?

Here’s what you need to know....

Somebody explain to me who THAT is supposed to work? All it does is further divide the cake for the GOPe candidates. Unless the GOPe could get Jeb, Christie, Kasich and so forth to drop out and actually endorse a single, agreeable cadidate. And even then they probably wouldn’t match Dr. Carson’s support levels, let alone Donald Trump’s.

No. What we’re seeing, I think, is a total loss-of-control by the GOP apparatus of the nominating process. This is probably their last play.

If Romney is nominated I along with millions of other sit it out. That stated we all have to take notice this story came out of that bastion of conservative integrity the Washington Post. Let’s take this as a misinformation ploy to get conservatives off their focus

They would be wise to see the writing on the wall.

Something is wrong within the republican party.
There is something going on.

Please, Mitt, no.

First, because although you are a decent and honest man, you have the political aggressiveness of a flatworm.

Second, because I don't think I could take any more of clicking on every FR election thread and finding it saturated with the endless copy-pasted screeds of our handful of Mormonism-obsessed ranters.

“If Romney is nominated I along with millions of other sit it out.”

If Romney (or another RINO) is nominated and wins, Rove and the other establishment administrators, consultants and pundits keep their jobs.

If millions of conservatives sit out instead of voting for Romney, Hillary wins. If the GOP loses the election, Rove and the other establishment administrators, consultants and pundits keep their jobs.

If Cruz, Trump, or Carson gets the nomination, and wins the election, Rove and the other establishment administrators, consultants, and pundits lose their jobs.

If you are an establishment administrator, consultant or pundit, what action do you take?

No, the idea would be for any accumulated votes from GOPe (and, you can be sure, from Carson and his handlers) candidates, as well as all the GOPe party superdelegates, to be thrown to Romney at the convention, I’m quite sure.

Anyone who thinks Carson wouldn’t be a part of it should look at his funding, as well as his positions on such things as amnesty, TPP, etc., and the GOPe’s penchant to use a black “outsider” candidate to split the base’s vote early in the primaries.

He threw the last one, didn’t he?

What more could the RINO GOPe want?

Yup. No to Romney. They pull that stunt, bypassing Trump or Cruz, and the base will crumble - expect the Bolsheviks will win and festivities commence.

Saw this posted in red on Drudge. Hey GOP (e) ....do that , and we conservatives stay home Novembe 2016. We promise. You will make Hilary POTUS, and the blood of the destruction of this country will be on your hands.

The move would fail spectacularly, and predictably. To me, the real news here (if true) is that the GOP-e is THAT out of touch with what is going on as a national paradigm. Even Hillary is failing to hold her ground. We The People, of every political stripe, do NOT want more of the same-old-same-old... and so they offer... the same-old-same-old. Unreal.

GOP leadership, either you will adapt to the new demands of the public, or you will be gone forever. It is that simple. 20-30 million of your former supporters will happily follow Trump to a new 3rd Party if you nominate Mitt, or Jeb... and don't go looking around and suddenly come up with McCain. I know you thought about it!!

Run the GOP nom as the Vp on a Hillary Unity ticket. They get the Dems, the moderates and all the liberal Romney voters that want revenge’spite for having lost in 12.

The math adds up to a win.

I would think that a low-down trick like that would. Make Trump’s “agreement” with the party to not run as an independent, null and void.

It is the GOPe, not the GOPn (new). Who cares if they draft Romney...Cruz and Trump will bury him like they did the GOPe’s last “draftee”...Jeb Bush. The WaPo is just trying to save some face for them. Move along....

If their real concern is someone with the temperament and knowledge to function better as president than Trump or Carson, their obvious pick would be Cruz: Trump’s politically audacious conservatism, plus Carson’s spirituality and calmness, plus Mark Levin’s or Antonin Scalia’s constitutionalism.

What really upsets the big-money folks is that they are all crony socialists who have been for decades reassured by Washington politicos to allow the Republicans to win a few elections to vent the public outrage, safe in the knowledge that those Republicans will continue the statism of the Democrats they really love.

In 1976, the Republican establishment forced Ford on us, over Reagan. Ford was the most despised person in the universe at the time and easily lost to Carter. In 1980, Reagan couldn’t be stopped in the primaries, but the REPUBLICAN establishment tried desperately to re-elect Jimmy Carter, running Anderson to siphon votes away from Reagan. It didn’t work. And ever since Reagan, they’ve gotten their guy in the White House. Not this time.

“this seems to be mostly rumor and speculation from his friends”

I gathered exactly that when I read the WAPO article. Drafting this loser (literally)will never happen, and if it does he’ll get as much traction as Bush.

And regarding Bush, just how does he feel, that the party insiders don’t even have any faith in him?

The establishment obviously feels like they are about to be over thrown, and that makes me feel good.
