Then, given the politics of WaPo, wouldn't this be exactly what they want? Why do they always champion milquetoast RINOs for the GOP nomination? Individuals that they NEVER support during the general election. Why don't they support conservatives to win the Republican nomination, if they think it will hurt the party so much?

I think the true base voted last time, but were suckered. If we have nothing but spineless, play along to get along seniles, what can we do? Start another party? What outcome would be any different?
