Math for Trump to win in General Election
September 03, 2015 | Self

Posted on 09/03/2015 1:33:49 PM PDT by entropy12

2014 Population breakdown by Ethnicity:

White 62%

Hispanic 17%

Black 12%

For trump to win in General Election, he needs: 68% of white voters, 36% of Hispanic voters, 15% of Black voters

Is it doable? Will depend on who is more energized in November 2016, Republicans or Democrats.

Do you see any place where Trump has disparaged the white voters? He also has not said anything bad about blacks. The MSM is exploiting Trump comments about ILLEGALS as if that applies to all Hispanics in US. Majority of Hispanics are legal and a majority of that group is not in “love” with illegals, unlike Jeb Bush.

Legal immigrants like me have first hand experience on how many hoops we had to jump through to acquire legal status. Many of us have no love lost for the illegals. They have jumped the line. Does anyone enjoy others jumping ahead of them in a long slow moving line?

He's a Republican. That means he'll get maybe 5%.

Majority of Hispanics are legal and a majority of that group is not in “love” with illegals, unlike Jeb Bush.

No but they're proud of their heritage. And Trump telling Bush to stop "speaking Mexican" is highly insulting to them. I know several Hispanics whose families have been in the U.S. for several generations, and who are normally pretty conservative, and they all can't stand Trump. Now if they're any indication then Ted Cruz might get 36% or more of the Hispanic vote. But Trump? Not a chance.

"Cruz has a solid following and that would help Trump a great deal."

Cruz is not eligible for the VP slot. Neither is Rubio, Jindal or that Punjab governor of South Carolina. See Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 of the United States Constitution.

What if Trump picks Cruz as his VP?

By the way Trump is now leading the field by 14 points! What is the last time you saw anything like this dominance?

One thing I have thought, if the election is almost a lost cause from the get go, why are there so many candidates? Everyone this time, has thrown their hat in the ring, Kasich, Christie, Perry, everyone is braving it. Why? if the demographics are so off. I know it is a bit depressing alright to consider; you have the Democrat frontrunner, almost under indictment and would still win. This is about having an underclass alright.

Good question. Usually when the incumbent president is not running for 2nd term, more candidates throw hats in the ring. But why 17 this time? Good question.

Nevada is solid blue given the demographics.

WI has not gone Rep since 1984. No way Reps win this one.

CO is trending blue. Possible

IA has gone Dem 6 out of the last 7 elections. Doubtful.

OH has gone Dem 4 out of the last six elections. Still in play.

FL has gone Dem 3 out of the last 5. In play.

If the Reps win FL, OH, and CO, they will have 56 electoral votes, not enough for the WH.

I agree with you. We should have a merit based system. It will also help the Reps electorally.

If Hispanics are so proud of their heritage, they should go back to one of the predominantly Hispanic countries. I am also an immigrant and I am here to assimilate, not push my own language on Americans.

This is America, learn English and assimilate or go back to your country of origin. I do not want foreign cultures infiltrating in my adopted country.

in 2012, Obama won Wisconsin 54% to 45%; I think if Scott Walker can win 3 elections for Governor there, the Republicans do have a chance. I would not be premature and assign it to the Democrats.

Wisconsin, Republican Governor and Republican House and Senate: http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/elections/republicans-rule-house-senate-first-time-8-years-n241126

That’s got to mean there’s a chance despite the voting history of usually going blue in Presidential elections. Big white population in Wisconsin, 88% or so. Really Republicans should be able to do better in places like Wisconsin and Iowa.

If my sister who has voted straight democrat for 30 years and is a Hillary fan, is going to vote for Trump this time, I am optimistic.

If it was only 17 this time it would be a blessing. Take a look at this FEC Form 2 filers.
Now granted most won’t be a factor but in some places they may could get a vote or two.

Another thing, if 59%, almost 60% of Americans are for deportations of illegals, that is one more factor I would consider thinking that Trump could get wide support.

That poll is a shocker.

Paul Ryan didn’t help in 2012. WI is a solid blue state when it comes to Presidential elections. Madison and Milwaukee always seem to make the difference.

You all speak of the majority; the majority does not count. If majority counted New York, Chicago, St. Louis and Los Angeles would be able to elect the President. and your vote would not count. The president is elected by the Electoral College based on the state defined manner of voting, winner take all or proportional.

The winner must have 277 electoral votes to win. The Democrats want the popular vote to count so the large Democrat controlled cities can control the Presidency. We must always recognize this and fight for the Electoral College or our vote will not count.

They should cut it out with teaching Spanish in high school. It is fine if people choose to take it in college.

Wrong. He needs a majority of electoral votes. CA, NY, WA, MA, CT, DE are already in the basket for whoever is the nominees of the Rats. Hispanics will tip the balance in FL, NV, NM
