The most damning part of Donald Trump’s political rise
The Washington Post's PostEverything ^ | August 27, 2015 | Professor Daniel W. Drezner, Tufts University

Remember when the 2016 field of Republican presidential candidates was supposed to be so deep and talented? Then why is a reality TV clown beating all of them?

The hard-working staff here at Spoiler Alerts has begun to notice that Donald Trump isn’t going away anytime soon in the polls. Which poses a bit of a writing quandary.

There is no denying that Trump stump commentary generates a lot of traffic — I mean, just tremendous, quality clicks. But this incoherent gasbag has been blathering on for more than two months now, and there’s only so much one man can say about his shtick. Say that he brings out the ugly side of American politics? Done. Comment on his feuds with conservative media? Done. Observe that he’s not really a populist, not really? Done. Point out that his bare-bones policy statements make almost no sense whatsoever? Done and done.

There’s only so many ways that I can say that Trump reminds me of nothing so much as that old man at the deli talking to nobody in particular about how the country is going to hell and how it was better in the “Mad Men” days when you could properly insult minorities and play grab-ass with the secretaries.....

Now, back to SNL!

Wow. What an idiot. The “clown” happens to be a very smart and powerful businessman. I’d like to see the sharpshooters do that themselves.

The image I get on this one is “foaming at the mouth”.

Regardless of the outcome of his candidacy I will always fondly remember Trump ‘16 as “that guy that drove the academics and strategists and pundits stark-raving loonytunes”.

“...this incoherent gasbag”

Remember folks - Trump is a “reality-show clown” and anyone who supports him is an inbred, drooling Klan member. Actually, no need to remember this. The MSM and academia will do nothing but remind of this for the duration of the election.

Who knew that 40% of the Republican electorate were inbred drooling Klan members?

“I am sensing a common tone to today’s anti-Trump rants.
A sense that ‘Ok guys, this is getting serious, we cannot just dismiss him any more and expect he will go away...’”

Yes. So, to defeat him, we’ll have to resort to even more name-calling. Because arguing using facts is something we hope to never have to do.

The ‘Reality Clown’ is an uber successful businessman in real estate, media, travel and much more. Sort of like the B-grade actor Ronald Reagan, according to this guy and and other liberals before him. Trump dwarfs the field on both sides in lifetime achievements.

“They actually pay this guy six figures to teach classes?”

Well, when you post his articles you are also paying him in a way.

These bloggers get paid in proportion to the number of hits they get.

A clown? The man who almost single handedly turned around the New York Real Estate Market? Who revolutionized and modernized golf clubs around the word. Who made beauty pageants (almost) relevant? Who makes more money every day than this “CLOWN” makes in a decade. Disagree with him politically, but calling him a clown? It only makes people want him more. Why don’t liberals GET THAT.

Another ivory tower hack. What is the pretty side of politics there professor? 95 million on their asses at home not able to find a job. Small business dead. Entire state economies on the slab (WV, KY). Millions of immigrant invaders who operate under a completely separate set of laws in ‘sanctuary cities’.

Colleges are next. They will be exposed for the fraud perpetrated on kids and parents in the next ten years as hundreds are shuttered because their degrees have been found to be worthless.

After putting my flame proof suit on......Does no one recall a guy named Ted Cruz. His positions are anti-establishment, beautifully Conservative, rational, on point, and given with polish and respect.

Its not that Trump doesn’t say things that stir the pot, but he suffers from Narcissistic Personality Disorder. It all about him, not the country. When asked about the 18 trillion national debt, he confused trade in-balance with the debt. He spouts the obvious and doesn’t understand the details. Sorry folks, I appreciate Trumps putting it out there without PC, but Cruz stomps him to ashes. Don’t drink the Kool Aid.

The truth is the GOP bench is not deep and talented. With the exception of a couple of candidates we were being presented with this cycle’s version of mediocrity until Trump came along. When compared to a real smart, successful talented guy they look pretty much like what they are. A bunch of career politicians.

Correct. The smart, successful talented guy is Cruz.

Cruz supports amnesty and increasing guest worker programs exponentially while we have the lowest labor participation rates in 38 years. Cruz says nothing about reducing the intake of 1.1 million legal permanent immigrants who enter annually. Who is defending the American worker and the safety of American citizens.

Why was Trump the first one to put a face on the American victims of criminal aliens? There are 55,000 criminal aliens in federal prisons and 296,000 in state and local jails. Tens of thousands of Americans have been killed by criminal aliens and millions have been victims of criminal aliens. Where has Cruz been on this issue or any of the Reps for that matter except for Jeff Sessions and Steve King?

Why should we give credence to the mouthing’s of a journalist? To my knowledge this man has never led troops, never ran for or held elected public office and has never even started or managed a company providing goods and/or services? He wrote essays to get good grades in college and today writes essays for newspapers. He never grew up.
