Trump continues to dominate the GOP field Economist/You Gov Poll

Donald Trump continues to lead all Republican candidates in the latest Economist/You Gov Poll – despite criticism of some statements he made during the GOP debate earlier this month. His closest competitor (far behind Trump) is another candidate without a political resume – former neurosurgeon Ben Carson, narrowly ahead of two Floridians, former Governor Jeb Bush and current Senator Marco Rubio.

Trump is just about as likely to be named as the Republicans’ second choice as each of the other top four. His ride at the top of opinion polls more than four months before the first official presidential nominating event has lasted much longer than many pundits predicted.

Walker and Bush have both lost 25 to 30% of their support from 2 weeks ago. The “e” in GOPe now stands for excrementing in their pants.

And according to the Reuters/Ipsos poll, in a two way race Trump beats Jeb by 44% to 29%.

So yeah, as usual, the pundits got everything wrong.

The question is:

Who will get the votes from the minor candidates once they drop out?

I love Cruz.

But I’m almost thinking that he should, ahem, do a deal with Donald...obviously in compliance with all laws...but still...he should do a deal.

He should endorse Trump, and want 8 years. I don’t think Trump voters would forget.

He should maximize his chances of being President. and right now, the best thing to do looks like him getting on the Trump express.

I would not have thought that two weeks ago....

The Reuters/Ipsos poll says that Trump will get most of them. And it makes sense. Jeb will probably only get the 3 people supporting Kasich.

The beauty of nominating Trump is that the Chamber of Amnesty as well as the Koch brothers will have absolutely no connection with him, so who will the Democrats point to as being the evil influence bankrolling him? They’ll miss that well-worn tactic.

As all the Sunday morning talk show heads and pundits were once again slamming Trump today and saying how he won’t last, nothing would give me greater satisfaction than for Trump to go higher and higher in the polls and then win the primaries. Then they would start in on how Trump could never win the general election, until he does, that is.

Trump may be the ony way to break the stranglehold of The Cheap Labor Express on the GOP.

At the time of Republican convention and Trump needs a push over the top(maybe). Cruz has the power to make it happen with his people(delegates).

Walker had some elevated poll numbers after his announcement.

Walker will continue to drop based on his waffling.

Bush gained a few points. I don’t know where his numbers are coming from.
I don’t know anybody that likes Bush.

Another advantage that no one has noticed yet is that Trump, with his priority on illegals & sanctuary cities, has effectively neutralized Julian Castro- who was thought to be the prime VP candidate/ legacy prez/ secret weapon for the left. The Castro brothers & their activist mama will not sit well with anyone after all this.

You are right. Without Trump in the race, Jeb Bush will easily win nomination. Only Trump can stop Bush. Cruz can not stop Bush.

Is Trump perfect? In many ways yes and many ways no.
What is good about Trump is that he can tackle the issue of illegals and 400,000 anchor babies EVERY YEAR, BETTER THAN ANY OTHER CANDIDATE.

If those issues are not resolved quickly, there will be no country left, and constitution will become a meaningless piece of paper. Situation is THAT serious.

Pray America is waking before it is too late.

Anyone who has been watching elections polls for a long time have known support doesn't go where you want or think it may go. All wishful thinking by the Establishment clowns.

FR's resident Trump boo-bird, Nick Carraway, is akin to that annoying black seed that's stuck between your two front teeth while you're shopping, at the post office and in the bank for a couple hours after lunch and you don't know it's there.
