No Congressional GOP Leaders Will Support Reducing Immigration
Breitbart's Big Government ^ | July 31, 2015 | Julia Hahn

(VIDEO-AT-LINK)

As U.S. census data projects that immigration will soon exceed all documented historical records, not one Republican leader in Congress supports the popular step of reducing immigration.

Each year the United States admits one million people with green cards, their dependents and refugees, as well as half a million foreign youths sought by college administrators. Census data projects that, if visas are not slashed or halted, another 14 million immigrant settlers will arrive in the U.S. over the next decade.

Polls from Fox News and Gallup show that Americans — by a 2-to-1 ratio — want to see visa issuances reduced. A 2012 Pew Poll found that 69 percent of Americans want to place greater restrictions on who was allowed into the United States.

By the millions, federal visas are shipped out to many of the poorest and least-developed countries. As a consequence of this federal visa policy, today one in four Americans is either an immigrant or a child of an immigrant. Entire states, consider California and its 55 electoral votes, no longer elect Republicans. That’s at least partly because so many visas have been used to bring in foreign citizens who support big government....

There is too much immigration both legal and illegal. We need to stop all immigration for 20 years to assimilate the influx we got since uncle Ted F-ed the country.

The fact there is a difference between legal and illegal escapes way too many here.

“How can they tell us we need more young Mexicans and Pakistanis to hold up the system, when the population of the planet must be reduced.”
Dirty little secret nobody likes to talk about. I’m all for charity and i don’t want to see people, especially children hungry BUT when we send money and food to someone, say the Palestinians, what happens? More babies they can’t feed. Do you realize, and it sounds like you do,just how many populations around the world can’t feed themselves? And when we or another 1st world nation sends them food or money all we are doing is making the problem worse, not better. If we tossed out all the illegals and cut off aid to their home nations i suspect while it would be pretty messy in the long run their populations would stabilize or shrink.

On the other hand lets not forget we now have a multiple of whatever amount of legal immigrants through the addition of illegals. If we allowed not one other legal in and totally stopped illegals we’d still have done our fair share for at least the next 15 years. I think before we allow one more legal in we should remove every last illegal.

I am terrified of connecting the dots for Freepers.. they will eat me alive.

There is a huge disconnect on these threads between the reality of over population, migrating 3rd world people, the end of Work... ala Jeremy Rifkin... and government funding of Planned Parenthood, — and last but not least - why people are more upset about a lion than a fetus.

I am ONLY the messenger, but they are going to kill ME!

ECON ... 101... the more you have of anything, the less value is attached to same.

People, lions, babies.

this is the reality even if the people on this board are horrified by it.

And it’s not going to change. The world has too many people, and diminishing numbers of everything else.

There is no way the Christian right is going to stem the tide of growing sympathies for animals at the expense of people. People have been so successful, with the help of some cultures over others... that now everything else is at stake.

I don’t want to argue whether all of China could live in Texas... if all of China lived in Texas, it wouldn’t be livable... AND there wouldn’t be a sparrow left.

Political leaders in the US will tolerate the mass rape and murder of citizens rather than admit they are wrong.

I am perfectly OK with giving Trump 4 years in the Whitehouse. I would be happy if he achieved 25% of what he says he will do. That’s 25% more than the GOP Congress has done.

wenn tiptoes a little close to a depopulation thought here.

Heads up, wenn: We’re not big on depopulation on this forum. Better procreation? Sure. But you must be very careful even there. China showed that, with their overpopulation of boys.

Depopulation can only be achieved with mass sterilization or abortions (unacceptable), death camps (unacceptable), purposed starvation (unacceptable), or engineered diseases (unacceptable).

I think if you stay away from depopulist thoughts, which all end up with unacceptable means, that your thoughts about being overrun with foreign nationals would be a welcome addition to the forum.

I agree that almost every family is against ILLEGAL immigration.

But the article is about LEGAL immigration, which has averaged about 1 million per year since 2000.

Besides former Senator Rick Santorum, and Iowa Congressman Steve King, I am aware of no elected Republicans who publicly support a reduction in LEGAL immigration.

And, there is very little support at Free Republic for a reduction in LEGAL immigration, even though 80% of new citizens vote for the Democrat Party.

Don't worry EV, wenn has no idea what they are talking about either.
Look at their post history.
They believe we need depopulation.
"As work ENDS - and it IS ENDING, in ways the Industrial Revolution never achieved - the BIG DISCUSSION will have to happen. WHO and HOW MANY are going to SHARE this planet with WHO AND HOW MANY other plants and animals - oceans, rivers, mountains, prairies and cities."

Ahh, utopian ideas of reducing the population and by how much and who!
Right up there with John Holdren, Obama's Science Czar who thinks we must murder several million or more people to save the earth.

The thought police are alive and well. Anyone who points to the brontosaurus in the room is called names.

Remember this conversation. I hope you are young enough to live to see what happens next. But you sound like a Eisenhower codger... cognitive dissonance between fanciful conservatism and the pass port stamps necessary to see the inevitable.

I have a history in regional publishing in the Rocky Mountain west. Santa Fe is the home of Outside Magazine. Their writers, readers, and contributors are all pretty much Wallace Stegner, John Muir, Paul Erlich, Jeremy Rifkin type conservationists.

What they all have in common is a regard for the land which trumps [no pun intended] their regard for humanity and the impact of world migration on every other living thing.

The thinking by conservationists - is that the new alliance for world population control will be an unlikely alliance between extreme right and extreme left.

each side reach round to the other - to rid the planet of several billion people. Hell, even the Pope was quoted as saying the carrying capacity of the planet is about 2 billion. [I”m sure freepers will find the quote and hammer me with the actual figure - but it doesn’t matter].

I’ve been attacked, demonized and otherwise threatened for my accurate description of the brontosaurus lounging on our dining room table.

Do not assign methods or motives to me which impugn my character. The war for the future of the planet is on.

Boat loads of unwanted migrants are being turned back on Australia’s north shore, off the North African coast and across the Middle East.

The left wants them gone because of their impact on the environment. The right wants them gone because they don’t want the cultural invasion.

This is an unholy alliance which is muscular, growing, and crosses political lines in ways few issues do.

Since you love mining the commentary for ways to pigeonhole and assassinate character - remember these words. You heard it here first.

I will match passport stamps with anyone on this board. The next world war has begun.

While you mine ear wax and assign motives to the messengers. Do your worst.
