TPA, TAA, TPP, TED CRUZ, JEFF SESSIONS AND YOU

STOP FIGHTING AGAINST PATRIOTS.

TPA, TAA, TPP, TED CRUZ, JEFF SESSIONS AND YOU

There is a lot of confusion about these acronyms; about what Jeff Sessions believed and what Ted Cruz voted for. But I hope you are able to see when I finish, why we should be careful in fighting our own about every thing we hear. Sometimes they will even differ in their understanding. I was ignorant about it up until a week or two ago, when I looked into the matter carefully.

First of all not one person up there understands more about international rulings and how they could affect US law. Here is why. Ted Cruz does. Cruz not only gave oral arguments in a most famous Heller case where he defended the 2nd amendment before the Supreme Court and won. There was a case that could be just as important. He fought the Medelin v Texas case as he explains in this video. It is the DEFINITIVE CASE against the UNITED NATIONS, The BUSH administration and the World Court in the Supreme Court of the USA and won. That ruling against all the above agreed with him, that no ruling or litigation of any international body changes or alters US law. They have no authority whatsoever in the USA. So he above all up in Washington, knows what he is saying. Now let’s look at the real issue....

A good Q&A audio. However, I did not hear anything new.

Cruz: Admits it LOWERS the vote from 2/3 to 51%. Which is what many of us, along with the Tea Party, Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Matt Drudge ALL have been saying.

At 3 minutes and 5 seconds and 5 minutes and 5 (more or less on the time) Ted Cruz justifies this by saying historically nothing would pass. Which is absolutely false. Cruz is implying we have had 0 treaties, 0 trade agreements and agreements since FDR. That is not true. We have had plenty as we all know. The MOST IMPORTANT PART is that we NEVER HAD TO LOWER THE VOTING STANDARD IN THE PAST. That has been in place for over 200 years.

I love how Cruz tries play the Reagan card too. Yes Reagan was for free trade but FAIR TRADE.

Reagan LEFT IN TARIFFS. Reagan even told Germany and Japan you can AVOID USA TARIFFS IF YOU BUILD YOUR AUTO PLANTS IN THE USA.

Guess what BMW and Toyota relocated to the good old USA. Reagan created jobs here unlike CRUZ that ONLY WANTS THE UNITED STATES TO PAY TARIFFS to other countries while all the other countries DO NOT HAVE TO PAY. And he has the nerve to call that “Free Trade”? It’s only free for other countries. The USA STILL pays tariffs.

I see Cruz once again says you have 60 days to debate. Hence, the name “Fast Track”. Cruz is PRETENDING they are expanding the time when in reality they are LIMITING THE TIME.

Someone Needs To Ask Cruz, “If the TPA gives us 60 days to debate, then what is the current number of days to debate.”

The answer is that the current time is UNLIMITED. So the TPA LIMITS DEBATE instead of expanding it.

Recap:

TPA

1) Limits the 2/3 vote to 51%

2) Limits debate time FROM UNLIMITED TO 60 DAYS ONLY.

Finally, I love how Cruz dodges the TPP by saying I have to look at it. Then he accuses Senator Jeff Sessions of getting it wrong.

I’m with Senator Sessions on this one and thankful that he is there.

My question stands as to any previous issue that you or anyone else agreed with Obama on?

What would've the reaction had been towards Cruz if he said, “In principle I agree with this deal, but I don't trust Obama or his administration worth a damn so I will be voting against this?" Cruz would've been a hero. I think Cruz made a giant, seemingly obvious political mistake here and his motives do concern me.

btw, I posted a link earlier pointing out that Mrs. Cruz was VP at GS until 2013. Why would someone step away from a VP position at Goldmann Sachs?

I consider these valid questions. Along with why Jeff Sessions is at odds with Cruz on this issue.

Comments?

The people that have all ready decided that they are 100% right, 100% of the time, will not read the article and if they do, will call it bs or propaganda.

They are 10-12 FReepers, that will find fault with Jesus Christ, and are not even satisfied with their own opinions.

They, like the liberals, don't deal in facts.

Establishment Republicans, working closely with the White House, have been pushing a triad of trade agreements that, if enacted into law, are supposed to create jobs. Yet even proponents of the agreements acknowledge they will also cost many Americans their jobs. The content of the agreements — the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), the Trade in Service Agreement (TISA), and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) — has been kept hidden from the American people.

In fact, even members of Congress have been able to view only the TPP thus far — if they go to a secret room to view it and agree not to divulge the content. Concurrent with the secrecy involved is a level of dishonesty and subterfuge that is beyond even that which Americans have come to expect from their government.

In a glaring example of Orwellian double-think, ObamaTrade advocates are simultaneously pushing for Trade Promotion Authority (TPA, aka "Fast Track") to get the supposedly jobs-creating trade agreements through Congress, and Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) for U.S. workers who lose their jobs because of the agreements. So which is it? Is ObamaTrade going to lose jobs or create jobs? The answer, according to House Ways and Means Committee chairman Paul Ryan and others who support ObamaTrade, is yes — both.

Apparently they believe (or expect voters to believe) that jobs must be lost in order for jobs to be created. Moreover, without government intervention in the marketplace jobs will be lost and created as a result of innovation and consumer preferences. (How many workers make typewriters these days compared to computers?) But does it make sense for the U.S. government to sign treaties that will destroy jobs and then increase government spending to help the displaced workers? How can such an approach end any way but badly?

On May 22, the Senate passed the Trade Promotion Authority bill, which also included the Trade Adjustment Assistance provisions to assist U.S. workers who will be displaced. But GOP House leaders decided to have the House vote on Trade Promotion Authority and Trade Adjustment Assistance separately, assuming there was a better chance of passing both separately than passing them together in a single vote. But the strategy backfired. Though the House passed Trade Promotion Authority Friday, it rejected Trade Adjusmtent Assistance. This made the TPA vote a hollow "victory," since the legislation cannot be cleared by Congress and sent to the president for his signature unless both the House and Senate pass identical versions of the legislation.

Consequently, for the TPA and TAA to move forward, either the House has to take another go at it or the Senate must revisit it. (You have to appreciate the separation of powers our Founding Fathers put in place!) Ironically, the TAA was torpedoed on Friday by Democrats who support the trade adjustment assistance but who (in the words of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi) "want a better deal for America's workers."

As it stands now, the House may vote on Trade Assistance Authority again as early as next Tuesday. Thus, despite initial news reports in the wake of Friday's votes suggesting that ObamaTrade may have been dealt a deathblow, the political reality is that Mark Twain's famous quote "The report of my death was an exaggeration" may turn out to be very appropos. Much more arm-twisting and back-room deals are expected over the weekend as President Obama and establishment Republicans push for passage in an effort to avoid having the bill go back to the Senate.

"Because the Democrats in congress would rather die than give a President Cruz or Walker fast track authority?

Yet you and Ted want to give it to 0bama.

If the legislation / agreement / treaty / deals are any good for American Citizens in general, then make them fully public, and let them stand or fail on their own merits. If they are worth the paper they are printed on, then even the Democrap legislators will support them if they can see that it will be good for their peasant constituents.

That bill requires a publishing of the Trade agreements for 60 days before they can come up for vote. Among other things, a good reason to support TPA.

It takes 60 votes to kill it unlike a treaty where 67 votes are needed to pass it. Big difference. It stands the Constitution on its head just like Obamacare did when it came to Congress overruling the Death Panel.

What’s wrong is that it makes a simple majority of the DC crowd all it takes to pass any trade bill. We can safely assume that a majority of the DC crowd can easily be bought off by the highest bidder.

This is a trade agreement with revenue and tax involved and must involve both houses, beginning according to the Constitution in the House.

So it went like this...
The House bill...A BILL To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide for a right to an administrative appeal relating to ad- verse determinations of tax-exempt status of certain or- ganizations.
(H.R. 1314 Ensuring Tax Exempt Organizations the Right to Appeal Act)

This was the response from the Senate...a complete transmogrification of the original House bill.

IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES A BILL To establish congressional trade negotiating objectives and enhanced consultation requirements for trade negotiations, to provide for consideration of trade agreements, and for other purposes.
(Hatch, Wyden and Ryan Introduce Trade Promotion Authority Legislation)

So, yeah, technically, it started out as a House bill but it isn't the same House bill as is the case with so much that goes on in DC these days. Bait and switch comes to mind.

Note: This measure was the Ensuring Tax Exempt Organizations the Right to Appeal Act, then it became the vehicle in the Senate for trade promotion authority.

Ted Cruz voted for TPA and TAA, both in the Senate bill. It is an admission that these trade agreements will cost American jobs. Remember NAFTA, which was going to create prosperity and jobs for Americans according to its propoents, but which resulted instead in the exportation of jobs? Is it stupidity — or evil, or both — to ignore this lesson from the past while pursuing ObamaTrade?

“But because we disagree on the ‘infallibility’ of Ted Cruz, and his support for ‘Obamatrade’, “

None of you guys seem to point to other candidates who have passed your Ivory Soap pureness test on TPA/TPP. Are you saying Rubio or Walker toed the line? How about Jeb?

So is Rand “Paul the only alternative? Because Rand has been stinking up the joint on a bunch of issues.

Post #52- 2nd, you have to remember that the Democrats have been bleeding white voters since Obola’s reign. You don’t think this is a ploy to win them back? Setting up the Stupid GOP so Democrat Congressional candidates can run with this?

The Left wing will eventually vote for it after wringing some concessions from the Reps. They will vote for TAA (TPA was already passed by the House) and portray themselves as the defenders of American workers. Let’s see what happens next week.

Because they know it hurts wage earners, specifically middle class workers and unionized workers, they are tax payers and are also in need of some sort of protection from the government.

WE NEVER GET FREE TRADE!

We get limited access to crappy third World markets and they get wide open access to our market.

We can barely sell an American made product in Central America, but allot more formerly American made products are assembled in Mexico and shipped right back over the border. Mexico has gotten 16X’s the jobs from the NAFTA than the US has gotten.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3299718/posts

We also have a multi billion dollar trade deficit Close to half a trillion dollars this year) with the countries we are negotiating this agreement with. What is the likelihood that we will have a smaller one with ANY of them after this is passed? Zero? Less than zero?

https://www.census.gov/foreign-trade/balance/c0014.html

Besides, the long and short of it is the fact that Obama wants it. That is reason enough NOT to give it to him. He is a lame duck, treat him as such. He hasn’t earned the right to pass legislation. PERIOD!

We can wait until January 2017. There is no need to rush. Another trade agreement selling out the American workforce isn’t the most pressing need in this country.

We have a Constitutional process for the adoption of treaty agreements with other countries. This sure as Hell isn’t it.

This piece of crap got crushed last week and he and IT should get crushed again this week. As with Obama himself, good riddance to bad rubbish!

For one thing, I have NEVER said Cruz supports the secret documents.

I have said on numerous posts that I have an issue with the secret bill(s)
behind secret doors that only congress critters have access to.

I don’t trust Obama and I don’t trust GOP leadership.

Why the rush to ram through all these bills?
Why not wait to vote on all these bills WHEN they are ALL available
to review in public? After all , we have been told the bill(s) in the secret
room have been in the works for 6 years. What’s a few more months.
Why the rush?

Cruz was the only one I supported prior to this ‘0bamatrade’ idiocy. I even found ways to rationalize his desire to quintuple H1B Visas.

Now I don’t support ANY OF THEM. I suppose Cruz could win back my support. But at the moment, I pretty much think that none of them actually share a majority of my values, and most of them share none or just a few of them.
