Three Republican 'colonels' plot their coup (Ted Cruz, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio)
The British Broadcasting Company ^ | April 17, 2015 | Anthony Zurcher, North America reporter

It's almost always the colonels who lead the coups.

Why? Because they're usually young, hungry and oh-so-close to holding the reins of power, if only those pesky generals weren't in the way.

The US isn't big on military putsches, but in the past month the Republican Party has witnessed a political equivalent, as three Republican "colonels" - first-term senators with little establishment authority but lots of ambition - made their moves for the White House.

Ted Cruz, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio may be junior players in congressional chambers but Republican politics, and US electioneering in general, have changed in the past eight years - and all three sniff the opportunity to strike for the top prize.

"I have heard some suggest that I should step aside and wait my turn," Mr Rubio said in his announcement speech. "But I cannot. Because I believe our very identity as an exceptional nation is at stake, and I can make a difference as president."(continued)

Regardless of who wins the election, Cruz has moved the conversation to more conservative and constitutional.

No-one else could have done that.

And I'll keep sending little bits of cash to Cruz as I can, because I want him to win the Primary.

Didn’t a first-term Senator get elected President once? What was his name?

Didn’t a first-term Senator get elected President once? What was his name?

There was once a failed senatorial candidate who had served a term in the House some years earlier. Got elected despite no executive experience other than running his law firm (like the incumbent, he was an Illinois lawyer).

There was also a first-term senator who got elected President twice (the American sheeple are exceedingly stupid).

Here he is in 1995 giving a talk at the Cambridge, Massachusetts Public Library:

All giants, in my view. I want them all to win. They are a promise to the American people..Let’s hope America’s enemies, the main stream media, are not able to stop them.

One Floridian FReeper recently said: “I’ll never vote for Rubio again.” I asked her this question: If, in November 2016, the only choice is between the diabolical, Marxist-witch, Hillary Clinton and Marco Rubio, will you hold to that vow?

She has yet to reply and answer my question. May I ask you that same question?

I can’t answer on Rubio but I know I’ll never vote for Jeb or Christy.

My preference is Cruz but I’ll hold my nose and vote Scott Walker.

Easy enough. My position is that I will never vote for a liberal. Not Rubio, not Clinton.

If you want an R to win, you better hope they don't run a liberal, because I won't vote for them.

I'm not a republican, I'm a conservative, and there WILL be a conservative on the ballot, just not D or R.

And if not, I'll skip that vote and head on down the list.
