The first two Republicans to declare their presidential ambitions—Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky—will most likely battle each other for a limited pool of funds donated by true-red conservatives. Marco Rubio, the third Republican to declare his candidacy, has a much better shot at corralling serious corporate money.
Politically, Rubio has been migrating from the limited-government, Tea Party edge of the GOP toward the mainstream, aligning himself with business interests seeking modest reforms rather than the radical downsizing of government. “Rubio has positioned himself as an establishment candidate with appeal to grass-roots conservatives,” says Ford O’Connell, a Republican strategist who advised the McCain presidential campaign in 2008. “He knows he needs to keep the car between two white lines and appeal to the rank-and-file Republican voter.”

I don’t care anymore. I will not vote for a candidate who is for anything other than enforcing the immigration laws. If the GOP candidate supports that, I’ll not cast a vote for President.
I don’t care if Hillary is elected. Either we enforce the laws or we don’t.
Amnesty is one issue.
There are so many others.
Abortions on demand, including 7 lb unborn babies.
Spending & deficits.
Balanced budget amendment.
National debt.
Military strength.
Foreign policy.
SCOTUS replacements.
Obamacare.
Is it really wise to stay on sidelines?
Are you a one issue voter?
Not all candidates.
Amnesty is the ONE issue that will TOTALLY AND FOREVER destroy the GOP, and the USA to boot.
Fill the place with Central American commies and socialists and we are done.
Perry, Grahamnesty, Rubio, etc. are being paid to run by The Cheap Labor Express to split up the votes of conservatives to make sure we do not nominate Ted Cruz.
The RNC has already been paid to produce an amnesty candidate. The cheap labor importers do not want us to elect anyone who will stop the invasion/cheap labor importation.
It seems that everyone thinks about this in the wrong context. This isn't going to come about like we imagine, with a fight over what is to occur. Obama has let this stew and stew and he plans to unilaterally grant amnesty to illegal aliens at the end of his term. We will not decide this with governmental processes -- we will deal with it as chaos.
Trey Gowdy was right. We are, or were, a nation of laws. If our elected leaders won’t enforce the law, then we are doomed. We can’t pick and choose which laws we want to obey.
For any elected “leader” to advocate anything other than enforcing the law nullifies that leader’s ability to have any moral authority to govern.
If you don’t like the current immigration laws, change them by passing laws. But you DO NOT advocate ignoring current laws.
FWIW, that is a nice laundry list. However, I have not seen Rubio fighting for those things.

Rubio’s appeal to grass-roots conservatives is far in the past. He’s shown that he’s two-faced and cares about nothing but his own ambition.

A mistake of monumental proportions. Obama, or any president, should have impeached over the way illegal immigration has been handled. The president decided to deliberately break his oath of office by NOT enforcing the laws of the United States.

“Business interests” want to maintain their most favored crony status in a big corrupt government that is bordering on fascism.
He has learned over time that he can ignore the checks and balances as they will not be applied due to his progressivism mandate, his racial make up to be portrayed as victim-hood and his record in giving away money to a client electorate.
He will use that ability at the end of his term, to create his own “freed the slaves” moment by granting amnesty to all illegals. It will be a moment of chaos and will end with him leaving office and the Republicans just left with the mess. This will happen after the election.
He will say that Congress has had 20 years to solve this problem and they have done nothing. In part that is true as both Republicans and Democrats have failed to enforce what is on the books. Never the less, he will throw this in the water and walk away. The ripples will be unmanageable.
Every one of them will NOT deport MAJORITY of illegals.
And yes, And that includes senator Cruz. Actually Cruz
wants to increase H-1B visa’s to Five times current size.
I like that proposal IF the non-skilled immigrant quota is reduced by double amount.
I agree 100%. Importing un-skilled people is slow suicide.
Politicians worry about next election to stay in power.
They do not give a shyt for long term. Very few anyway.

There is no way to make immigration policy work unless you deport, and everyone knows that.
I’m for changes in our system. I don’t know if we give out too many or too few H-1B visas, but I know that we need to do a better job of defining who we want and who we don’t want, and enforcing that. And if teh procedures we have set up serve as a disincentive to legal immigration (and thus an incentive to come illegally), then we need to review and change them.
But we do nothing until we secure the border. (Unfortunately, for liberals, “securing the Borders” means deploying guards at a now-defunct bookstore.)
Secure the border is #1.
Then follow up on those coming on jet planes with a tourist,
student or business visa, and have stayed past visa expiration.
Almost half illegals are from this category.
Personally I also want a drastic reduction in un-skilled immigrants
brought in with family connection. Until immigration
is brought under control, we do not need 1 Million plus new
immigrants EACH AND EVERY year.
I have no problem expanding H-1B visa five fold as Cruz wants.
That number is still very small compared to total immigrants.
