Ted Cruz, Longtime Foe Of NASA And Science, Will Oversee NASA And Science In New Congress (Hahaha!)

(VIDEO-AT-LINK)

Following the ratification of Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) as chair of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committtee last week, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) was named chair of the Subcommittee on Space, Science and Competitiveness, where he will oversee NASA and science programs.

Appointed Jan. 8, Cruz is expected to be confirmed to the new role by the end of the month as one of many changes to the new Republican-controlled Congress. But the Republican senator's words and actions during his time in office have painted him to be a far cry from an advocate for the sciences, leaving many concerned about the future of space and science funding.

Cruz's infamous hours-long speech in September 2013, led to a 16-day government shutdown barring 97 percent of NASA employees from appearing for work. Interns to the agency were temporarily displaced when the NASA-provided housing was closed during the shutdown, and many have said the agency suffered lasting damage due to the freeze....

"Many have said..." They are utterly predictable.

More Huffing and Puffing BS. Cruz is a huge supporter of NASA and their mission. He will support cleaning house.

Harry Reid and Obama shut down the government, NOT Ted Cruz.

The Republicans were burning the midnight oil trying to avert the shutdown; Reid, Obama, and the rest of the dems were a no show.

As it was, only 17% of the government was actually “shut down.”

The Beast will write any article to support the tired meme that “Evil Conservatives are anti-science” Bull Crap.

Ted Cruz would probably support private proerty ownership on the moon and other space bodies which would drive more actual exploration than any else NASA has ever done by adhereing to silly feel good un treaties on space.

Setting aside the biased THINKING, the WRITING is appalling here.

For example:

“actions during his time in office have painted him to be a far cry”

Actions painted someone? As a cry? Whaaat?

This ought to be good. I haven't read the rest yet. But my prediction? This article misses premise and changes all context with regards to Cruz statements.

You should read the article. It’s short. The HuffPo totally puts BS links between events, causes and results that have nothing to do with Cruz.

Cruz shut down the government = He hates NASA
Cruz doesn’t buy Man Made Global Warming = He hates NASA
Etc.

Ted Cruz will be seen as a great success by the space flight community if he can help get NASA back on the pathfinding and prospecting mission.

The liberals and climate alarmists aren’t going to be happy anyway. Screw em.

So Ted Cruz, one of the smartest people in the Senate, someone who Alan Dershowitz called his most brilliant student, is a “foe of science.” I think the Huff Post and other liberal hack rags have fantasies of Cruz and the other conservative Senators in Inquisitor’s garb threatening to torture Galileo for saying the Earth is round.

“Science” to liberals means the state sanctioned, funded, and perverted policies that are loosely referred to as “science”. As such, it should always be accompanied with quotes or some other indicator to differentiate it from what Galileo did.

barring 97 percent of NASA employees from appearing for work.

A friend who works at NASA told me that:

1) They eventually got paid for that time.

2) While they did no work whatsoever during the "shut-down" time (wink wink), they were "extraordinarily productive" on their first day back in the office (wink wink).

It should be interesting to see what Homer Hickam thinks of this when he returns from vacation. He’s not a fan of NASA’s navel gazing direction these days.

The administration did by fiat what Congress had instructed in its spending bill (which the administration vetoed). The administration spent $1 billion renting barricades and paying security personnel to disrupt foot traffic in Washington DC, in an effort to obstruct open-air attractions that are otherwise unguarded 24 hours a day. And this ninny blames Republicans for a shutdown. Duke is effective at churning out indoctrinated clods, who function as radical mouthpieces.
