Grover Norquist: What makes Wisconsin’s Republican Governor Scott Walker a good choice for 2016
Reuters ^ | November 20, 2014 | Grover G. Norquist and Patrick Gleason

After the GOP’s midterm-elections sweep, the Republican Party holds more U.S. House seats and controls more state houses than at any time since 1928. Having reached this goal, the GOP now needs to look for a 2016 presidential nominee to match this success.

President Calvin Coolidge, who sat in the Oval Office from 1923 to 1929, would be a smart model for the party. He reined in spending and reduced tax rates at a time when it was as needed as it is today. President Ronald Reagan admired Coolidge so much that he hung a portrait of the 30th president in his Cabinet Room.

One talked-about possible 2016 presidential candidate who shares many of Coolidge’s policy bona fides is Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, who won his third statewide race in four years on Nov. 4. The two men have so much in common that it is worth seeing what Coolidge’s experience can tell us about a potential President Walker....

He’s got the wrong friends.

“He’s got the wrong friends.”

I like Scott Walker, but that’s the first thing I thought.

I have yet to see someone backing Ted Cruz that I wouldn’t be in the same room with.

I stand with Ted.

I would have considered Mr. Walker but if Grover , the mussies best friend, wants him then I don’t

Best thing Grover could do for him is not help him.

Look I support Ted for President, but Walker has been a Governor with the best proven track record of any Republican Gov since Ronald Reagan. He’s done it with utter hostility and everything (probably even including the kitchen sink) at him, and he’s won 3x. He’s going to be tough to beat.

Now I have to wonder what’s wrong with Walker that I didn’t know about.

In the end, we want fair and equitable governance. I’m going for a solid ex or current Governor this coming cycle.

I have a slightly different take.
I bet this is how the game is played with “Consultants”.

The “Consultants” find someone who seems to be getting traction for one reason or another and then they try and kiss up so they can get $$$ to “help”.
Once the contract is signed, they start trying to change the campaign direction.

There was a good guy in Portland I was backing and as soon as one of these “Consultants” came on board, things started a downward track.

I'm thinking the same thing.

If anyone has been thinking of Scott Walker as the ideal Republican candidate for 2016, I hope the fact that the Islamist Grover Norquist is touting him will give you pause. I find it interesting that Norquist wraps Calvin Coolidge (one of America’s great, but unsung, Presidents) around Walker like a scoundrel wraps a flag around himself.

Don’t misunderstand me, I think Scott Walker is a conservative Republican but I think the reason he is being promoted by the likes of Norquist is to draw votes and support from Ted Cruz (who gives ‘RATS, RINOs and Islamists nightmares) who would be the ideal 2016 candidate and WOULD WIN.

An endorsement from Norquist is like an endorsement from McCain.
Red flags start popping up like confetti at a parade.

Grover is no friend of conservatives or Christians. If he is thrilled by Mr. Walker I must put that into the mix

Many government employees, administrators and those in government connected businesses will oppose Walker for obvious reasons. But without radical reductions in spending including federal pork to state and local governments (and consequent de facto reductions in regulations), the economic situation will continue to worsen toward unthinkable disaster, even for those who oppose him. We see the choice between some rather large layoffs and nearly all-inclusive layoffs in the near future. It’s either deep cuts in spending or the remainder of the default process and its conclusion of repudiations of debt.

Walker sounds pretty good to me. I haven’t actually been researching the field yet.

I do know that I prefer to have some one with enough experience that I can see how he has voted and handled various actions in the past. I also prefer Governors.

Politicians are pretty good at sounding conservative when they are running, but their prior actions tell the real story.

I agree that Grover is not ‘one of us’ and associates with muslims, but even Democrats supported Ronald Reagan, so it’s a bit too early to write off Walker without knowing all of his positions on national politics.

Didn’t a man named George Herbert Walker Bush take down the Coolidge picture? Who was put in Coolidge’s place?
