In this year's midterms, Jews voted for Republican candidates more than they have in any election in the last decade.
First, some raw facts. In the 2006 midterm elections, 87 percent of Jews voted for Democratic candidates for the House of Representatives. Last week, in the 2014 midterm elections, 66 percent cast ballots for Democrats. That's a 21-point drop in eight years—and, it might seem, a major cause for celebration among the likes of the Republican Jewish Coalition and philo-Semitic political strategists everywhere.
But while Jewish support for Democrats has definitely declined over the last decade, the context is important. Poll numbers show how people are voting, but it's more difficult to figure out what they mean for the role of Jews in American politics.
And for such a small group, that's a big question.
Here are some of the other constituencies that make up 2 percent of the American electorate: customer-service representatives. People who participate in archery and bowhunting. AOL users. Residents of Indiana. So why all the attention?
"The importance of the Jews isn't their votes," said Benjamin Ginsberg, a professor of political science at Johns Hopkins University. "They account for a huge share of the activist base of the Democratic Party and account for much of the money available to Democratic candidates. If you are a Republican strategist, it seems fairly obviously that if you can shift Jewish support even a little bit away from the Democrats, it makes the Democratic Party less competitive."(continued)

We get this article after every national election cycle like clockwork. And, like clockwork, it never comes true. To most liberal Jews, which is most Jews, Republican = Cha Christian version of ISIS.
The Jewish vote is conflicted these days.
While Jewish voters remain overwhelmingly liberal and left-wing, the Left utterly hates and detests Israel, has nothing but contempt for it. Meanwhile, the GOP and religious conservatives are much more pro-Israel.
Makes no sense for the Democrats to loose Jewish voters. After all, they are for Gay Marriage and against Israel. What could be wrong with that?
Politically, most Jewish voters fall somewhere between liberal and socialist; they overwhelmingly support abortion, gay unions, and if memory serves, in a much different era, founded or helped found the NAACP.
Yep, it is a ritual for some reason.
Democrats Will only lose the Jews to genocide.

I can see the Jews parting with Israel before voting Republican. Not trying to be sarcastic, I have known some to say so.
Many of the younger Jews are removed from Israel. Too distant, too foreign.
the Talmud teaches altruism as one of the highest virtues for Jews.If altruism is a virtue, then the next step is statism, socialism, and big government to force everyone to be altruistic.
The party of “palestinians”, and CAIR, and muslims and threatening Israel still gets the American Jewish vote though.
It ain’t gonna matter in 20 years.
Between the mass immigration of utterly alien people they advocated for and their own outbreeding and lack of reproduction, they will cease to exist as other then a tiny fraction of the electorate.
Since they have great social and financial achievement their political presence will still be disproportionate. But that will be diminished too..the numbers are just too much to overcome.
But it’s only a matter of time.

Because they are socialists. They were the Jews Hitler wanted to get rid of.
Obviously, the Democrats consider their captive ethnic blocs as too stupid to leave their poitical gulag. So far, theyv’ve been right.
My ancestors were German Jews. They converted to Christianity when they arrived here LEGALLY in the early 1900's. Not a one that I've known through the years has ever voted for a Democrat. But, my family/family tree is a small one. I'll never understand how a people so oppressed would continually vote for their oppressors. 'Jews For Hitler!' *SMIRK*
I read of a survey a few years ago that said Israel as a concern isn’t even on the radar of American Jewry. They don’t care.
Because liberals are liberals, first, period, among whatever else they are - be they women, homo, jew, black, etc - they are liberals first.
And quite often to their own detriment.

I can honestly say the Democrats have never lost me.
Because I was never theirs to begin with.
I would ask why this isn't obvious to my fellow Jews, that the Democrats work against our best interests.
But then, I could ask the same of any of the Democrats Supporters outside of Ho Chi Mihn.
