It’s Not Obama, It’s You: Landrieu’s explanation for president’s unpopularity positively Brechtian
The National Review ^ | November 1, 2014 | Jonah Goldberg

Posted on 11/01/2014 3:30:26 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Dear Reader (unless you’re the kind of chickens**t who calls people “chickens**t” anonymously),

Obama fatigue is setting in. Indeed, I’ve gone from Obama fatigue through full-on Obama Epstein-Barr to end-stage Obama narcolepsy. I hear him talking, or hear some MSNBC-type rhapsodizing about how misunderstood he is, and I start dozing off like a truck driver who took the drowsy-formula Nyquil by mistake. “Gotta stay awake! This is my job!” But then 20 seconds later, Jonathan Alter starts telling me how misunderstood the president is, and suddenly orange traffic cones are bouncing off my truck’s grill as I somnolently drift into a highway work zone. You could fill a cereal bowl with broken glass and barbed-wire shards drenched in hot sauce right below my face. All it would take for me to use it as a pillow is a 30-second loop of Obama saying “Let me be clear.” His speeches are like whale sounds, but with less substance. I’d say they’re all white noise, but I don’t want to get called a racist....

Like Alinsky, freeze this weekend in your mind. Look at the polls, and the pundits. Then see how things turn out.

After the election, make note of the Rats as they left the ship. Those are the people and institutions we should focus on shaming, if they profess objectivity.

A poignant and sometimes humorous article. Worth the long read.

LOL -- if only! Whale sounds are actually sort of soothing.

I think there are 36 Senate seats to be decided. The most optimistic outcome would be a net GOP gain of around 10 seats.

Voters are very forgiving---but it's almost impossible to forgive a candidate who fails to recognize the impact of his/her words.

In the Chuck Todd interview Landrieu trashed Louisianans---dismissing them as nothing more than hapless "conservatives." Landrieu added: “It has not always been a good place for women, to be able to present ourselves as the leaders we are. It’s more of a conservative place. So we’ve had to work a little bit harder on that”.......meaning she had to dupe a lot of good people to get herself elected.

Odd isn't it----when Landrieu was elected and reelected multiple times---there was no racism or sexism in Louisiana. Now that she appears to be losing Landrieu suddenly discovers sexism and racism in every corner of Louisiana.

Another FReeper likened Landrieu's goofball rhetoric to California candidate---then-incumbent Gov Pat Brown---- inexplicably telling a Black audience, "Remember, an actor shot Lincoln."

Brown's opponent was Ronald Reagan who went on to win the governership by a million votes.

=========================================

CONCLUSION It's hard to say if Landrieu's desperate and deplorable tactics---vilifying and slandering her own voters--- will be enough to win her another unexpected victory in Louisiana....but she knows every trick in the book.

In 2002, Landrieu was forced into a run-off. She was under-funded and labeled the underdog. So she and her Democrat operatives mined every ghetto, housing project, crack house, ho house and Nursing Home in New Orleans for votes.....she won by a hair.

That’s basically what I’m looking for, thank you.

So....optimistically speaking:

NC
LA
GA
NH
IA
CO
AR
KS
AK
SD?
MN-—any chance in hell Smalley will lose? I heard his competitor on Hannity the other day and PRAYED he would win

What else?

and when you say net, that implies the GOP could lose some; is this the case?

No, I did not intend to imply any GOP incumbent loss in the most optimistic scenario. I meant to include the open seats, but was not clear.

I think it’s very possible that two or three GOP incumbents could lose (making a net gain of 5-6-7), but that’s not the optimistic view.

Mary Landrieu has a history of blaming others for her own failures, especially minorities. Remember when she said she supported the nomination of Miguel Estrada to the federal bench, and then reneged after she was reelected, blaming her Honduran constituents for mis-understanding her?

Landrieu bragged about support for Estrada in campaign ads.

Mary Landrieu has worked close to the Hispanic Community. Immediately following the destruction of Hurricane Mitch in Nicaragua and Honduras, Mary Landrieu was the first representative of the US to visit Honduras and involve herself with the relief effort for those affected by the hurricane and she obtained 11 million dollars in support of the affected families. Mary Landrieu ALSO SUPPORTED THE CANDIDACY OF THE HONDURAN MIGUEL ESTRADA FOR THE FEDERAL COURT OF APPEALS. Mary Landrieu has always been close to our community, she has grown, socialized and worked along our side. An announcement paid for by friends of Mary Landrieu."

February 12, 2003: Landrieu disavows Estrada ads

Sen. Mary L. Landrieu, who is now opposing the nomination of Miguel Estrada to a federal appeals court judgeship, ran Spanish-language radio ads during her campaign for a December runoff election saying she supported his nomination.

The ads, which ran on a New Orleans radio station for almost two weeks, praised Mrs. Landrieu's outreach to Hispanics and specifically noted Mr. Estrada.

¿Cómo Se Dice "Liar"?: Landrieu on Estrada

When Landrieu was confronted with this "apparent contradiction," her staff, no doubt using President Clinton's deposition as a "how to" guide for politicos caught in "apparent contradictions" issued the following statement:

Unfortunately, some of my supporters in the Hispanic community who helped us produce this commercial misinterpreted my neutrality as a statement of support. I take personal responsibility for the error and I apologize to anyone who was mislead by these ads, which ran for less than two weeks on one radio station in New Orleans.

It's time for this liar to be removed from Congress.

I believe there are 36 Senate seats up for election this year. Most of them are not competitive. (Like Texas for example.)
