David Perdue wins Republican Senate nomination

Businessman David Perdue stunned Georgia’s Republican political establishment Tuesday by capturing the party’s U.S. Senate nomination in his first run for office.

The former CEO of Reebok and Dollar General toppled 11-term Rep. Jack Kingston by a narrow margin, setting up a battle of political newcomers with famous kin in the fall. Perdue’s cousin, Sonny, was a two-term governor and Nunn’s father, Sam, was a four-term U.S. Senator....

5. You left out South Carolina, especially if Tom Ravenel makes it official as an Independent Conservative. He already has my endorsement.

count your blessing where you may

The Chamber of Commerce couldn't buy Perdue off or defeat him. We don't know if he would've been a RINO or not. But he's more likely to be a real conservative after the treatment the establishment gave him.

I like that a Chamber of Commerce endorsement to the other guy might have caused his defeat.

I live and vote in Georgia. Myself and those here in North Georgia met and know Mr. Perdue. We also know Jack Kingston and just how sleazy he is. NOONE should be in DC for 22 years and then be rewarded with another term for anything.

You do not know Perdue. You just like to spout off

Just like the Chamber you cherry pick....My comment about Perdue being the worst ever was in response to another’s question. I already know what Kingston is. I am willing to have someone new in congress thanks very much. My post was an acknowledgement that he may turn out to be bad (as so many POLITICIANS...which Jack Kingston is and always has been). SO what? I can vote him out next time....plus he has promised to only serve two terms. He is pro life and pro family. He is pro gun and anti-amnesty. He wants the border secured. He wants the budget brought under control. He is against raising taxes and argues that revenues can be increased by unleashing business by getting rid of strangling regulations.

Go pound sand

Nifster, you also lived in California, as I recall. San Jose, as you were telling me about which of the Democrat Mayors there were “not so bad.” How long have you been in Georgia for ?

Also, again, you mistake me as a fan of Kingston. I’m not. That also doesn’t change the fact that Perdue is just another rich liberal huckster who capitalized on his famous name and bought himself a Senate nomination by the narrowest of margins (much like that fella in MS).

Just man up and acknowledge you got caught with your pants down on your cheerleading for Perdue. Or shall I replay your quotes ? I think you yourself are the one that doesn’t know Perdue.

Jimmy’s grandson is getting the loving press from the AJC. Deal hasn’t done much in the way of ads or campaigning. Nunn is going to have a harder time because most of her views are so far left compared to every where but certain sections of Atlanta.

We will see what happens come November but I think we should still be a red state.

Exactly. Those who follow Georgia politics knew this before the election. It is why Karen Handel’s endorsement of Kingston did NO good. The primary showed that folks didn’t want Kingston. The second round proved it

No, sir. That response was made to me 2 months ago, not to another questioner. Your words. Directly to me.

As for your choosing to BELIEVE the words of a rich liberal with no public record on the issues during a heated campaign, that’s the definition of naivete. He wants this, he wants that. Worthless pledges and promises. In the words of Eliza Doolittle, don’t tell me, SHOW me.

If Perdue proves himself to be in the Cruz mode, I will be pleasantly surprised. But for now, it appears you have a Corker/Lamar!/Haslam clone (if not worse) on your hands, and that’s the last thing Georgia, or the U.S. Senate needs.

Don’t get mad at me for potentially being hoodwinked by another slick-talking fella promising the moon and the stars, because you were warned. 2 months ago, you were not so naïve. Go back and read your own posts.

Yes and my family lives in Georgia and this is where I have come for my later years. My family were Georgia and Virginia people for a hundred years. After world war two there was some scattering.

You can hate Perdue all you want. He is a business man who came from modest beginnings and has worked for what he has. I am willing to give this man a try. I will NEVER vote for ANYONE who has been in DC for 20 plus years and was backed by the insane US Chamber.

I am done chatting about this with you. I explained my vote. You ought to worry more about the likes of Lamar Alexander.

I don’t vote for left-wingers or smarmy, slick characters from the private sector who promise anything to get elected and conveniently vote the opposite way once they get in office. You’re putting faith in a man who hasn’t earned that trust. That’s on you. I know hucksters when I see ‘em and promptly call them out. I spent day and night warning folks about Ah-nold in California during the 2003 recall when they thought he’d be the savior of the state. How’d that work out ?

I am quite familiar with liberal Lamar!, thank you. Perdue reminds me of him and the other two RINO bozos from my state, Haslam & Corker. Unfortunately, we have no runoff here nor closed primaries, so all the Dems as usual will be flooding in to vote for their favorite RINO.

Hmmm. It seems each accused the other of supporting amnesty.

This is what I can tell you about Kingston. After Eric Cantor stepped down from his post as House Majority Leader, there was an open election among GOP House members to replace him. The candidates were pro-amnesty moderate (and GOPe disciple) Kevin McCarthy, and anti-amnesty conservative Raul Labrador.

So here we have Jack Kingston who is actually stepping down from his House seat at the end of the year. And because of that, he has the opportunity to vote his conscience for the new Majority Leader. He's leaving the House, so he has no favor to curry with anyone. This was a golden opportunity for Kingston to prove that he is a TEA Party conservative who is fed up with the GOPe. Yet when it came time to vote, he voted for McCarthy.

That to me says it all. If he had voted for Labrador, that one act alone would have given him a 10-point margin of victory. Yet even when it no longer mattered, he still sided with Boehner and Company.

Deal is corrupt and lacks executive skills. He and Cagle both deserve to lose. And for the record, Georgia had never been a reliable red state. Keep in mind that Sonny Perdue in 2002 became the first Republican governor in over 130 years. Georgia is the only state in the country that did not have a Republican governor at any time during the 20th century.

Currently, our governor sucks, our Lt. Governor sucks, and both our US Senators suck. Bigtime. And they are all Republicans.

For the record, I trust Herman Cain’s evaluation of the man more than I do someone’s ranting who neither knows him or cares to. I spent time listening carefully after Cain supported him.

Don’t bother to respond. I don’t care what you have in you next rant

I like Herman Cain, but he is not infallible. He gave a full-throated endorsement of the Massachusetts Socialist RINO ringer for Zero, Willard. That was an epic disaster anyone with half-a-brain could see 100 miles away. Alas, his endorsement of Perdue cost him a lot of remaining good will with GA Conservatives.

All in all, you again continue to make my point.

I also suggest calming down, FRiend. Getting enraged isn’t good for the old ticker. Don’t get mad at someone who can see through the baloney and does his best to try to warn folks who’ve been or are being hoodwinked.

You ended up hitting “post” twice, btw.

Just to show you how dishonest you are here is the entire quotation that was a response to a previous statement by you

“That may be your view of Perdue. It is not mine.

Do I trust hime to be better than Chambliss? Most definitely. Do I trust him to be better than Kingston (who has lived off of taxpayers money for the last 20 years and has lined his pockets in the usual ways)? Yes.

There was no true conservative running in this primary....The guys who have spent their careers at the trough and Phil who decided it was mor important to be senator than a good house member....bleeech

The truth is I trust no politician....and once they are in office they are politicians. We will see what transpires”

You cherry pick what you want and twist your view of it and pretend that it is contextual and accurate. How very left wing of you.

Hermain Cain may not be infallible but he is more accurate and decent than you are

I cherry-picked nothing, sir. I quoted you the portions germane to the discussion. You explicitly stated in this thread that Perdue was going to be Georgia’s version of Ted Cruz. I stated that was not what you said when we previously discussed this matter in May and quoted to you exactly what you had to say, in that Perdue was not a “true Conservative.” You were correct in what you said in May and completely without any evidence or proof in what you stated in this thread.

Thank you, once again, for making my point.
