Michael Steele: 'Lot Of Interest' In Eric Cantor Serving As RNC Chairman
Talking Points Memo ^ | June 14, 2014 | Sahil Kapur

Eric Cantor, next Republican National Committee chairman?

Former RNC chair Michael Steele thinks it's a possibility after the House majority leader was defeated Tuesday in a Virginia Republican primary.

"With the upcoming presidential election, there's a lot of interest in Eric Cantor serving as national chairman of the RNC," Steele said Saturday on MSNBC's "Up With Steve Kornacki."

"In fact I think he'd be interesting because he started dialogues on poverty and some other issues that were sort of outside of what Republicans have traditionally talked about. So he could bring a very interesting voice into that space," he said.

The best part about trying to politically destroy liberal republicans is all the ammunition they give me.

Cantor should compromise and consider a run for Governor if he is not the most terrible choice, in 2017.

This is a Cantor supporter’s idea:

“This Shak Hill supporter was packing heat on the floor of the Roanoke Convention Center. At least this weapon wasn’t one of the huge assault weapons seen at the Texas State Republican Convention held over the weekend at Fort Worth Convention Center.”

After Gruber defeated Cobb.

The RNC is run by dumb, arrogant out of touch RINO elitists, for sure. But would they really get that in-your-face to the constitutional conservatives? Amazing

I wish more people would get out to their state conventions and load the RNC with tea partiers.

Usually a thousand or so votes are enough to do it.

Actually, Mike, no, there’s pretty nearly no interest in that.

A lot of interest? By whom. Eric Cantor? Hillary Clinton? Mitt Romney? Surely not any conservatives or teaparty members.

... he started dialogues on poverty...

Sorry Mikey. You don't fight poverty by importing MORE OF IT to the United States. Can't you guys think once in a while? Knock off all of the politics for a while and do some serious thinking! World poverty has been the U.S. taxpayers' problem long enough! Let some other country pick up the ball and run with it for a while. We've wasted enough of our money fighting this hopeless "war on poverty".

Potential Republican candidates include former Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling, Congressmen Eric Cantor and Randy Forbes, former Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie, and state senator Mark Obenshain.
