I have always contended that the problem with the republican party is that there are way too many demorats in it.Nice to see one go.Now if boehner and mcconnel would hit the door...

Holy crap, the source for this was a leftist cesspool.

I feel the need to take a shower!

Iowa! Of all places.

I always thought that Iowa, being farm country, would be a lot more conservative, but it seems to be way liberal. I've got a friend in Des Moines who believes she a socialist (until it really effects her, then not so much!)

There seems to be an awful lot of leftists up there. Maybe it's due to all the colleges.

That and the unions in Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, and Davenport.

Although I am a bit surprised at the leftism compared to nearby South Dakota, Nebraska, and Kansas.

Very disappointed with Chad, he well knows there are all types in the GOP even if he is a minority. To go that public with it is even more heinous. He should have never ran for leadership if he was that much in disagreement with the GOP.

Umm.. yeah; it does. OR did so when I was growing up there. I was born, and raised in southeastern Iowa, in Iowa County.. ooh yeah..everyone seemed to vote Democrat, if, for no other reason than thier family always voted Democrat.. this is also true of the area in and around Cedar Rapids, where I lived in the early ‘70’s..

Granted, this MAY have changed somewhat in the last 40 years, but Cedar Rapids IS a Union town.. and people out in farm country tend not to change their opinions on politics very often..of course; having Presidents like Bill Clinton and Barack Obama within the past 20 years, MAY have gone a long way to helping these people see the light, and change their minds about Democrats..if indeed, the trend IS changing in southeastern Iowa at all.. I pray it has..that’s all I can say.

That was then, this is now. Even the union dem counties in the 2nd district voted near 50/50 in the last gubanatorial. Contrast that with going 3 or 4 to 1 dem 20 years ago. Alot of the old union towns now swing either way, like Clinton, Newton, Quad Cities, and even CR sometimes. Iowa City is the only liberal constant inthe whole 2nd.
