Convention speeches: Ann Romney vs. Chris Christie
Vanity | 8/28/2012 | The Rhinelander

The buzz is that Ann Romney's speech was off the charts and that Chris Christie's speech was moderately good but didn't have the red meat people wanted. I tend to disagree. Christie's speech was fantastic but in a much more subtle way. He showed the stark differences. Thoughts?

I loved Ann Romney’s speech. I am a woman who does not cry easily. but she brought tears to my eyes with her heartfelt words.

Attacking Ann Romney on her religion after that speech is despicable.

“The fear of Mormons is a bit sickening. Yeah, they have grown quickly as a religion, but so have others through time. I don’t fear them. Teach what you know and the truth will win out.”

I remember when I was a young son of an obviously Irish family that went to the only Catholic church in town people talking about America coming under the thumb of the Pope when JFK was running. I notice today’s socialists don’t talk about him much anymore. History is a curious thing.

“Could she be referring to Bill/Hillary?”

No. Maybe referring to p-resident Jarjar and Chewbacca’s in the White House.

And if your marriage wasn’t sealed in a Mormon temple then Mitt and his wife don’t think you have a “real” marriage.

That’s not me. That’s what they believe.

Pray for Ann’s conversion. Do you think she knows the
history of Mormonism, that it began in 1820? That one
fact should make her wonder...

Ann has a brain, she can figure out the cult of Mormonism.
Where has her husband shown any evidence of legislating for life? It’s only his “word” that he has changed.

>> Chris Christie, who says he is a Catholic, also believes you are born homosexual, and believes it’s OK to murder a child if you don’t like who the father is, as in cases of rape and incest. He is also for civil unions for homosexuals. All three of these stances go against the Catholic Church and Christie could care less. He’s another cafeteria Catholic, in the same vein as Joe Biden, but not quite as bad. <<

Christie is pro-life and pro-traditional marriage, apparently the Christie bashers are no longer able to convince people that he supports abortion or gay marriage, so now you're claiming he's "in the same vein as Joe Biden" because he "only" agrees with you about banning 99% of abortions in this country. Anything less than outlawing 100% of them makes him a TRAITOR, naturally!

As for "caring less" about stances that go against the Catholic Church, here are some positions Church officials have taken: The Pope said the Iraq War was immoral and unjust, and opposed executing Saddam Hussein, as well as opposed killing Bin Laden. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops endorsed the DREAM act giving in-state tuition to illegal aliens, and supported efforts to stop these illegal aliens from being deported. The USCCB also opposes civilian ownership of firearms, and called for more gun control laws in this country.

Do you agree with those stances? Or do you do the very thing you condemn Christie for doing -- having a slightly different opinion than Catholic officials? Do you support the church on opposing overthrowing dictators and executing terrorists, rewarding illegals, and banning guns, or are you a "cafeteria Catholic", using your own logic that anyone who doesn't follow the Church's positions 100% of the time is "in the same vein as Joe Biden"

I didn’t say Sarah’s and Ann’s speeches were on par. I said they are both bound to be memorable.

Sarah’s was indeed electrifying, in part bc the media had already so mucked up public opinion about her abilities, that even many of us on the right were holding our breath believing disaster was about to hit. I was certainly guilty of that. But after those first few minutes of heebie-jeebies, once we realized just how good she was, the rest was exhilarating! I shall never forget it.

I was listening to Ann Romney in the car on my way home, so I listened without seeing her. The speech really gave me the chills. She reminded me of myself, as a very young mom, with a military husband who was gone a lot ...and how I always wondered what I’d gotten myself into, lol.

I think for a nation wide debut in front of a crowd THAT large, that this lady did a particularly good job. I think sometimes ALL people underestimate mothers in general, and how tough we are.

It’s very evident that she loves the country and believes in it, and believes in success, but they also believe in sharing that success with others.

Christie was awesome. I hope Romney can be half as good.

That’s cause you aren’t around when guys talk about their Mom. Then you’d REALLY have tears in your eyes.
