Gingrich Collapses In Iowa, As Ron Paul Surges to the Front
Atlantic Wire via yahoo ^ | December 19, 2011 | Dashiell Bennet

.....A new poll from Public Policy Polling shows that Ron Paul has taken the lead in the Iowa caucus race, while Newt Gingrich's support is fading fast. A different Gallup poll still shows Grinrich still holding the lead, but slipping, while The New York Times has Paul in the lead as well.

Gingrich has seen his numbers in the PPP poll drop from 27 percent to 14 percent in just three weeks, while his favorability rating is now split at 46 percent for to 47 percent against, the worst of any candidate not named Jon Huntsman. That's quite a fall for someone who looked to be running away with the state and taking charge on the national level.

Mitt Romney has also seen his tick up slightly, putting him just behind Paul for second place. The poll measured voters who are planning to vote in the Republican caucus.

Perhaps the most telling secondary question was, "Do you think Newt Gingrich has strong principles?" Only 36 percent say that he does, but for Paul that number was 73 percent.

People in IA are afraid of Newton Gingrich; he is considered unstable and might snuff out ethanol subsidies too. People in IA have always been so predictable; I would imagine that they have “heard” it is “Mitt’s turn” this time.

"while The New York Times has Paul in the lead as well".

A Big Clue!

The Atlantic Wire should be a little more responsible with their verbiage. In this context, “collapses” is a bit much.

I know, Obama's probably praying toward Mecca a couple extra times a day, thanking Allah for his luck. If Romney (McCain v2.0) wins, he knows all he has to do is rerun the 2008 playbook. If Paul wins, then Obama doesn't even need to bother with a campaign, he can spend the entire campaign on vacation in Martha's Vineyard and still win.

Settle down!

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/us/republican_presidential_nomination-1452.html

This is a skewed Democrat poll, meant to see how badly they can stir up the Republican nomination. Look at the general method and the samplings taken. It's as bogus as Obama’s Birth Certificate.

God I hope not, but I would vote for Mittens before Paul. I would vote for Crazy Drunk Guy (tm) before Paul - the effect would be nearly the same but more entertaining.

To me, after watching the primary to this point, it appears to be a media hatchet job. The goal of the media, and this includes Faux News, is to destroy any conservative candidate and leave Mittens as the nominee in order to suppress conservative voting and guarantee four more years of juicy reporting as Obama continues the march towards socialism.

The problem with Paul is that his values are totally loony-tune.

We all knew the lapdog media would run with this BS PPP poll. Obama wants to make the whole GOP look as fringe nuts as Paul. Obama fears the candidates from RINO to conservative in the GOP but has no fear of the crackpot Paul.

Newt’s numbers are down???

What a freakin’ surprise!

I mean, after 3 weeks of 1) media, 2) democrap, 3) primary opponents’ multimillion-dollar expenditures on attack ads, and 4) establishment republican full-frontal attacks — what a shock that his numbers have gone down.

I admire him for withstanding this amazing onslaught (if indeed he has).

Two simple rules:

1. If it’s a poll, just ignore it.
2. See rule #1 until the urge to post goes away

I heard Jamie Dupreee on the Neal Boortz show this morning saying there have been nonstop attack ads against Gingrich mainly from Ron Paul and Romney and Newt is not putting out his own ads to answer them. Erik Erikson from Red State is hosting today. He said Ron Paul is not going to win in Iowa due to the lack of caucuses. (Limbaugh said last week the attack ads were taking a toll on Gingrich and Romney was not moving but it was only helping Ron Paul and this was not what the establishment intended.)

Paul has a strong ground game in Iowa and is pulling out all of the stops to run negative ads on Gingritch...all day every day. It appears to be working. This will end up helping Romney, particularly in New Hampshire.

If this poll is at all accurate then it finally settles the matter.

Iowa is too stupid/ignorant/out of touch/ unrepresentative/ drunk on ethanol/ whatever- to be an early primary State.

The Democrats also have an organized effort to come out and vote for Paul on caucus night
